Hi, I'm Valerie and you're listening to The Beauty Brains.

The Beauty Brains, a show where real cosmetic chemists answer your beauty product questions and give you an insider's look at the cosmetic industry. This is episode 303 I'm your host, Valerie George, and with me today is the other most well-traveled cosmetic chemist, Perry Romanowski. Hi, Perry.

Perry Romanowski (0:28)

Hey, Valerie, so good to have you back.

Valerie George (0:31)

Thank you. So I'm just getting back from Kansas, and you are headed out to?

Perry Romanowski (0:36)

The Czech Republic. I'm gonna go visit Prague this weekend, so we wanted to get a show in before I travel.

We are always separated around the world, huh?

Valerie George (0:46)

Yeah, we are. Prague is one of my most favorite places. I had the opportunity to go there a couple years ago with my university for a university event. They have a sister university in Prague, and I loved it. I loved the people, I loved the food, I loved the beer.

Perry Romanowski (1:07)

Wow, I picked the wrong weekend to stop drinking, huh?

Valerie George (1:11)

Oh, bummer. What else is going on in your world?

Perry Romanowski (1:17)

I got that new crazy kitty.

Valerie George (1:20)

How is Ted doing?

Perry Romanowski (1:21)

Ted, Theodore Logan, he's good, very friendly. When somebody comes to the door, he runs up and greets him like he's a dog.

Valerie George (1:30)

Oh, wow.

Perry Romanowski (1:31)

And he plays fetch.

Valerie George (1:32)

I like that he comes with tricks already.

Perry Romanowski (1:34)

Oh, yeah, he's got all these tricks, but he gets a little bit crazed. I don't know, he eats food, and then he is just like a bat out of hell, just running around the house, crashing into things.

Valerie George (1:44)

Wow.

Perry Romanowski (1:45)

And he does have the 4 o'clock, 4.3 in the morning wake up call now.

Valerie George (1:50)

He just wants you to be up with him.

Perry Romanowski (1:52)

He does, it's pretty crazy. But you know what, I have a new porch kitty too.

Valerie George (1:58)

A new porch kitty?

Perry Romanowski (1:59)

You know, the original porch kitty has kind of disappeared. I've seen her, but I think she got chased away.

Valerie George (2:07)

Okay, so it's not that, because we thought porch kitty was possibly dead for a while. So you think porch kitty's alive?

Perry Romanowski (2:13)

I think porch kitty's alive, but just moved on.

Valerie George (2:17)

Okay, moved on to a new porch.

Perry Romanowski (2:20)

Yeah, porch kitty's progeny has, you know, like I said last time, Tuxedo was pregnant, I think.

But there's another gray one who I call Benny too. He's now taking on the porch kitty role. Like, he wakes up every morning, he's out there waiting for me, waiting for the food. So, it's like I have a new porch kitty. Oh. Yeah.

Valerie George (2:41)

But it's not the original.

Perry Romanowski (2:42)

It's not the original, no.

Valerie George (2:44)

Oh, well, I hope the original porch kitty gets to come back.

Perry Romanowski (2:47)

I do too. Hey, how do you feel about pudding?

Valerie George (2:50)

You know, pudding's good. Sometimes, you know, most of the times, I'm not in the mood for it, but then when it's there and you eat it, you're like, wow, this is pretty good.

Perry Romanowski (2:59)

You know, my wife makes fun of me for my love of pudding. You know, and I like to get a little dollop of whipped cream on the top.

Valerie George (3:06)

No, I don't like it with whipped cream. I'm a pudding purist.

Perry Romanowski (3:10)

Oh, well, you know how I like whipped cream on pudding?

Valerie George (3:13)

Porch kitty.

Perry Romanowski (3:14)

Porch kitty and my new kitty, Theodore Logan.

Valerie George (3:16)

He does. You guys are meant to be together.

Perry Romanowski (3:20)

We are meant to be together.

Valerie George (3:23)

All right, well, let's head over to some beauty science news. What did you see this week?

Perry Romanowski (3:33)

Valerie, I saw some actual science.

Valerie George (3:37)

Well, that's hard to believe. All right.

Perry Romanowski (3:39)

Well, the headline sort of got to me. So the headline was, Scientists Knock 30 Years Off the Age of a Woman's Skin.

Valerie George (3:48)

Sounds pretty incredible.

Perry Romanowski (3:52)

Yeah, they have this, theoretically, this new age reversal technique that took the skin cells of a 53-year-old woman and made them the equivalent to look and behave like the skin cells of a 23-year-old woman.

Valerie George (4:09)

Wow, that's pretty incredible.
