Hi, I'm Valerie and you're listening to The Beauty Brains.

Welcome to The Beauty Brains, a show where real cosmetic chemists answer your beauty product questions and give you an insider's look at the cosmetics industry. This is episode 274 I'm your host, Valerie George, and with me today is Perry Romanowski. Hi Perry.

Perry Romanowski (0:28)

Hey, Valerie, good to see you. It's been a little while.

Valerie George (0:31)

It's good to see you. I can't wait to hear what you've been up to. But first, on today's show, we're going to cover what are your thoughts on the Dyson hair dryer? Or should I say my thoughts? Can EGFs penetrate the skin?

What's a good substitute for the QV lip balm? And why do Prostaglandin-based eyelash products require a prescription? But first, some of Perry's famous name, Chit Chat. Perry, I heard or saw, I should say, on Instagram that you did your annual Castle Run.

Even though it's very disgusting, would you like to tell our listeners what that's all about?

Perry Romanowski (1:10)

It's my annual Castle Run. It's where I, every August, I usually have to do a long run to train for the marathon, which is in October. I am doing that this year. If we have it, last year's was canceled because of the pandemic. But every year, there is actually a White Castle, which I'm a huge fan of White Castle, by the way. Unfortunately, they have a fan like me. I know, some people are not fans. I am a huge fan.

But I have to say, White Castle, I only go there once a year. And I don't know how they stay in business. If fans like me only go once a year.

But anyway.

Valerie George (1:49)

I mean, do they know you or not really?

Perry Romanowski (1:52)

No, I mean, I only go there once a year.

Valerie George (1:55)

So tell us what you get when you go.

Perry Romanowski (1:59)

So when I go there, which is August, I do this, first I do the castle run. So I will run, my running path is the shape of a castle.

And I put it on my Instagram. So you want to see.

Valerie George (2:11)

I didn't even notice that. But now that you mention it, I'm like, oh my gosh, that was in the shape of a castle.

Oh my God.

Perry Romanowski (2:17)

Yeah, I run in the shape of a castle, 16 miles. And then I end up at White Castle. And then I get four cheeseburgers, a large fry and as much diet soda as I can drink.

It's my yearly tradition. Well, I gotta tell you, there's nothing like, running 16 miles in the heat and humidity of Chicago in August, and then finish it off with some sliders.

Valerie George (2:42)

Oh my God.

Perry Romanowski (2:44)

I wanted to report, you know, you remember Randy?

Valerie George (2:48)

I do, sometimes I get called Randy still.

Perry Romanowski (2:50)

Oh yeah, that's right. Thank you PR people. Well, anyway, I talked to Randy. I hadn't talked to him in a little while, but I want to tell you this very short story about Randy, just a little update on him. Randy had a dog that he was, he very much liked this dog, you know, that loved the dog for, and he had the dog for like 12 years. And unfortunately, dog developed cancer and ended up passing away.

But I know it's sad, but before that happened, they decided they liked the dog so much, they were just, they were gonna clone the dog.

Valerie George (3:26)

I'm sorry, what?

Perry Romanowski (3:28)

They liked the dog so much, they decided to clone the dog. So there's this, I guess there's this outfit in New York that clones dogs.

So they took a sample of the dog's cells or something, shipped it off to New York. And well, what happened was they took the dog and they have to implant multiple embryos to make sure you get at least one clone. So they implanted a few, and it ended up having three cloned dog babies. And so when they got out there, they're like, okay, we just want the one, and we're gonna take it. But the other ones looked exactly like their dog because they all look like the dog. And so he just ended up taking all three of the cloned dogs.

Yeah, yeah. He cloned their dog, and now he's got three dogs that are all clones of his original dog that passed away.

Valerie George (4:26)

This is a business.

Perry Romanowski (4:29)

It's some outfit in New York, yeah.
