So you may have heard Jarrett Lewis in the newsroom talking about this a little bit earlier. But Secretary of State candidate, former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, he's suing the Indiana Election Commission, saying they have not handled the finance complaints that he's made.

They have no plans on meeting, and they've not met since July, which, if you think about it, that's pretty on brand for what sometimes happens in big corporate offices. What do we make of this?

Jerry Lopez (1:46)

Yeah, it's not a big deal. I mean, whatever happens, it's kind of out of my purview. But let's just be honest. Ballard just wants to be the kingmaker. He's not here to win it. He just wants to get Ballard access. And that kind of rubs me the wrong way. But I don't care what side you're on. We got to do things by the book.

And let's be honest, this is good press for Ballard. This is what's called earned media. So he didn't spend any advertising dollars to get his name in the press today. We're talking about it. TV stations are talking about it. And he's got nothing to lose. He's easily third place in this race. And why not? Screw it. Try to sue them. Get your name out there. Make it look like you're the fighter. You're the champion of the people. And maybe, just maybe, if you can catch some people being incredibly lazy, bada bing, bada boom, that's all it takes.

Listen, if there's anything we know, it's people don't do any research. So if somebody's driving an agency or Ballard soon because he was done wrong, people are going to talk about that around the dinner table with no facts behind it.

Well, and again, when it comes to election complaints, election security, if you want to call it that, I know I've talked about this a couple different times, but my situation a couple of years ago, I did everything right when I had that big goofy knuckle dragging sloth that was stumping for Jared Evans, cost Chris and I at the poll. I called, I left messages, I spoke to multiple people, and all of my concerns were ignored in the order received.

Yeah, but here's the honest question. We look back and people want to talk, but was the election stolen?

What has changed? I don't care. Once the election is over, we can go back and say it was done improperly. Can you name one time we've overturned the results of the election based on an investigation after the fact? I've never heard of it.

Jason Hammer (3:23)

Investigation? No. Now, we've had some recounts. We had a recount this year.

Jerry Lopez (3:27)

But once it's done, like, okay, Biden cheated. You ever seen them go back? Okay, now we're going to install Trump again? No, it's over. It's over.

So we've got some new polling numbers here by a group called Free Press Indiana. Now, I'm not familiar with Free Press Indiana, Jerry. Any insight on these people?

Never heard of them.

According to this survey, 47% of people that took part in this little poll believe that Indiana is headed in the wrong direction ahead of this midterm. 35% believe Indiana is on the right track. 18% said, I don't know, or they're unsure. I mean, that's a pretty big, I don't know, 18%.
