Hammer and Nigel.

SPEAKER_2 (0:01)

Do you believe these characters?

Kevin (0:02)

They're weirdos.

SPEAKER_4 (0:05)

Ha ha ha ha ha, yes!

Nigel (0:08)

Fired up on a Thursday. It's The Hammer and Nigel Road Show, live at Coach's Tavern on Pennsylvania, just kind of directly catty corner from the Field House. My name is Nigel. Jason Hammer, right over there, and beer in hand, I'm fired up. I don't know.

SPEAKER_2 (0:30)

This is our home away from home, man.

Nigel (0:31)

It really is, kind of where the Hammer Nigel Show basically started.

Jason Hammer (0:36)

Before everybody and their brother had a podcast, we were doing this kind of thing 15 years ago. We were setting up shop in a bar, streaming video on a website, on social media.

Nigel (0:49)

Has it been that long?

Jason Hammer (0:50)

And now everybody and everybody's kids have taken that model, and they've got their own shows. But, wow, we were doing it from here, and we would come here every Thursday night in this exact corner and do debaucherous things that we could never do on the radio right now.

Nigel (1:08)

For basically free beer.

That's all it was. Tom Sutton and Adam Eisenberg, the owners, said, yeah, you want to come set up? You'll promote us on social media and we'll give you a free draft beer.

Jason Hammer (1:21)

A draft beer.

And we ultimately, a little more than that, turn that into this little empire that we call the Hammer and Nigel Show. So Tom Sutton, Adam Eisenberg, the amazing folks here at Heroches Tavern that we've known for years. I'm so jealous of the owner, Tom, by the way. He's on his way to Destin, Florida right now.

Nigel (1:46)

That's right in the eye of the hurricane.

Jason Hammer (1:49)

They're in the mix. Like he was scheduled to fly out, I believe, on Saturday.

Nigel (1:54)

Because he wanted to be here.

Jason Hammer (1:55)

Right. But they had to move up his flight because the airport might get damaged.

Nigel (1:59)

I get it.

Jason Hammer (2:00)

This weekend.

Nigel (2:00)

I get it.

Jason Hammer (2:01)

And you know me, I've always wanted to cover a hurricane. I'm so jealous that no good rotten Tom Sutton gets to cover a hurricane before I do.

Nigel (2:11)

I love it that your wife, Crystal, the crazy coupon lady who's here. She's here.

SPEAKER_9 (2:16)

She's got a few t-shirts.

Nigel (2:18)

We were talking before the show started off the air, and you told her the same thing, and she was like, go, go ahead. She wants you in that hurricane, buddy.

SPEAKER_10 (2:27)

She doesn't want to be coming back.

SPEAKER_11 (2:29)

That's the thing. Go swimming out there.

Jason Hammer (2:31)

Go past the buoy.

Nigel (2:32)

But I wanted to give her like a round of applause personally, because she was a supportive wife and wants you to go into the heart of the hurricane that's coming.

Jason Hammer (2:42)

And if I didn't have a speaking engagement this weekend, I'd be on that bird with Tom Sutton probably tonight. But yeah, we'll keep an eye on that.

Nigel (2:51)

Yes.

Jason Hammer (2:52)

Last night, Secretary of State Debate, all your favorite TV pals were there, Nigel. Max Engeling, Bo Bai, former Mayor Greg Ballard, Laurie Schillings. She's the Libertarian candidate.

Over under 0.5 minutes, how much of this did you watch?

Nigel (3:12)

I tried to watch it, unfortunately. I couldn't find WFYI on my platform that I use, my streaming platform that I use.

Jason Hammer (3:19)

So I think I have it, but you could have turned on WIBC.

Nigel (3:24)

Oh, I guess I could have listened to it, right?

No, you're right. You're right. I could have listened to it, but it just, you know, Hammer watches these things, and thank God for Hammer, so we don't have to.

Jason Hammer (3:38)

So honestly, there wasn't a moment last night. There wasn't a lot of separation last night.

Nigel (3:46)

OK.

Jason Hammer (3:46)

It was the same old song and dance. Bo Bayh is trying to convince everybody he's running against Diego Morales.

Max Engeling, the guy that beat Diego Morales in the primary after the Republicans realized Diego was a zero. I don't know if he did a good enough job of telling Bo, hey, you're running against me and not dirty Diego. I don't think he did a good enough job of that.

Nigel (4:13)

Interesting.

Jason Hammer (4:14)

I thought if there was a loser last night, and I know some folks will disagree with me, but I thought Greg Ballard may have been the loser last night. His idea for voter guides just seemed a little outdated, seemed a little expensive, seems like a big colossal waste of money, and he kept talking about it over and over again.
