Hammer and Nigel.

SPEAKER_2 (0:01)

You believe these characters?

Nigel (0:02)

They're weirdos.

SPEAKER_4 (0:03)

So let's rock it!

Nigel (0:08)

Jason, Hannah are right over there. You're gonna have to break it down for me here, because I can't get past the indie star, Paywall, and I know they did some sort of deep dive into prosecutor Ryan Mears today. And basically, the point was, and correct me if I'm wrong here, Hammer, I can almost guess what it's gonna say, seeing if all the allegations of him being soft on crime were accurate. Correct. And I don't know.

I haven't read the article, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and just say puff piece. But I don't know. I haven't read it. So maybe that's unfair.

I'm biased. I give my opinion. I don't care what anybody else thinks, okay?

Hammer (0:54)

Right.

Nigel (0:55)

That's just what I know of the Indy star, and then I know of Ryan Mears.

Hammer (1:00)

Now, to be fair, the Indy star has done some incredible work in the past.

Nigel (1:05)

Incredible work.

Hammer (1:06)

What they were able to do with Larry Nassar in Michigan State, top notch. Even looking into Joe Hogsett now in their series.

Nigel (1:16)

Top notch.

Hammer (1:17)

That's been pretty good.

But I will also point out that Joe Hogsett is now useless to the liberal media in the city. Joe Hogsett is a dead man walking to the libs in the city. They've moved on to Vop Osley and other candidates.

Nigel (1:33)

Is that right?

Hammer (1:34)

That's the way that I feel. Because they were just fine with letting Joe Hogsett go missing during the riots and not say a word. But now that there are other candidates available that check a number of boxes or might be a better fit, they have decided to throw away Joe Hogsett. It's that scene in Toy Story. We don't want to play with you anymore. That's what it is.

Joe Hogsett is a dead man walking politically to the indie star and the liberal media here. So now, this morning, there's an article on Ryan Mears. And the perception is that he gives a buttload of plea deals, sweetheart plea deals, to violent repeat offenders.

Nigel (2:23)

At the very least, you got to give credit to the indie star for understanding what the perception is.

Hammer (2:29)

True, very true. And they cited a friend of the show, Rick Snyder, as being the biggest critic of the prosecutor, the police unions, the biggest critics of the current prosecutor.

Nigel (2:40)

They got their receipts and they got them all in a row.

Hammer (2:44)

So my takeaway from reading the article today was that they were comparing Ryan Mears to his predecessor, Terry Curry. Same political party, okay? So you can't say that it's a political game, both Democrats. Terry Curry, who became ill and then ultimately died, you know, in office compared to Ryan Mears. And my takeaway was that the Indy star agrees, Terry Curry was better, but they couldn't just come out and say that.

They put graphs up showing, while Ryan Mears did have more plea deals for murders, more plea deals for these violent crimes, it wasn't by a lot. Like there was always a but when it came to looking at Ryan Mears' numbers.

Nigel (3:32)

There's always a but with Ryan Mears.

Hammer (3:35)

And buried beneath the headlines, I mean, it basically showed that Ryan Mears was not as effective at dealing with some of these lunatics as Terry Curry.

Nigel (3:50)

OK.

Hammer (3:50)

This is the exact quote from the Indy Star article. Now, you got to scroll down a little bit, because the big headline is going to make Ryan Mears look like he's Superman. But once you scroll down a little bit, quote, the difference, however, is more pronounced in murder cases for which Mears has relied more heavily on plea deals than the late former Marion County prosecutor Terry Curry. I don't know about you, Nige, but when it comes to murder, I don't necessarily want a plea deal.

I don't want my prosecutor to be the plea deal guy when it comes to grizzly homicides.

Nigel (4:26)

Sick some of your deputy prosecutors on the murder suspects and throw the books at them every time.

SPEAKER_6 (4:35)

One hundred percent.

Nigel (4:36)

I don't need plea deals. Yeah, I need bodies in incarcerated. I need people. Yes, actually didn't Ryan Mears one time.

SPEAKER_6 (4:46)

All they want to do is throw people in jail.

Nigel (4:49)

Yeah, I want to throw people in jail.

Hammer (4:52)

That's when the prosecutor.
