They're weirdos.

SPEAKER_4 (0:03)

So let's rock it!

Jason Hammer (0:05)

Ha ha ha! Hello!

My name is Nigel Jason Hammer, right over there. A lot of stuff happening all over the country. New York, the swamp, Washington, DC. I ran, if we're talking worldwide. But first, let's start right here at home, please, and do some Indiana stuff.

SPEAKER_5 (0:30)

Tenderloins, Euker, Basketball, Indiana stuff.

Hammer (0:39)

Ryan Hedrick from the WIBC Newsroom joins us in studio.

Jason Hammer (0:44)

Hey, Ryan.

Ryan Hedrick (0:45)

Hey, guys. How are you?

Hammer (0:46)

Ryan is on his phone right now because there is news breaking as we speak with Indiana ties to it. We got a couple places we could start, but let's start with what you're listening to at this very moment, Ryan.

Ryan Hedrick (1:00)

All right. So right now going on in Columbus, Ohio, trying to wrap my head around this. So a nine count federal indictment, as far as I know, filed against Tyler Thomas, the man who police say now killed and decapitated, Haley Busby.

Hammer (1:20)

Yeah. Now, Haley Busby, for those who like, maybe they've heard the name, but they don't recall she was the young lady from Central Indy that had made some sort of connection online with a stranger, met with the stranger, and then ultimately led to her what we believe to be a kidnapping and killing.

Ryan Hedrick (1:42)

Yes. So she met him on a gaming system. Remember, there was a lot of scrutiny about that system. He drove to Indiana from Ohio, brought her back to Ohio, pretty much held her captive, and now the US. Attorney's Office out of Columbus is announcing a nine count indictment, which pretty much all these counts punishable by death. They are charging Tyler Thomas right now as we speak with Haley Busby's killing on February 10th. Just to recap, guys, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of travel in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. But now further investigation has revealed that he's actually responsible for killing her, and they're announcing that right now.

Hammer (2:31)

Okay, so we will have more on that throughout the afternoon and evening here at 93WIBC. Ryan Hedrick from the WIBC newsroom is with us.

Let me also get to these arrests made for flock camera misuse. There's a big federal hearing taking place in Washington, DC right now where senators are grilling some of the folks behind flock camera usage. Here in Marion County, there's been an arrest made of an IMPD officer.

Ryan Hedrick (3:06)

Yeah, and actually five IMPD officers. So five officers charged, and to my understanding, four are current officers. One actually just went away. Michael Rogers, I'm going to read their names in order of their tenure.

Jonathan Schultz, an 18-year IMPD officer. Michael Rogers, 16 years in. Cassandra Crawley, seven years in. Michael Binford, four years in. And Abigail Kramer, the officer that I said resigned five years in before the resignation. And most of these charges lay in fraud, accusations of thousands of improper searches tied to Michael Rogers. Jonathan Schultz accused of over a thousand improper searches.

Hammer (3:53)

Good Lord!

Ryan Hedrick (3:53)

Yeah, this is widespread. The one thing that really stuck out to me about a press conference that just happened about 30 minutes ago, Ryan Mears said, this is just the beginning. A reporter asking him, how widespread is this? And Mears said, well, I can't tell you that we're still looking into these guys. But one reporter said it could be over 10 officers that they're looking into across IMPD. And Chief Tonya Terry is going to hold her own presser tomorrow.

Hammer (4:22)

As I've been saying on this program, and I will own to this, I'm not anti-flock camera, but I know I'm different than most people. I'm more voyeuristic than others. If you want to watch me, I'm not either, Hammer. But I've also said when I become the governor, when I become the mayor, the punishment for officers abusing these flock cameras has to be severe. So that way, there's a little bit of faith in the process, because I do believe the flock cameras work. They caught a bunch of bad guys. They found kids.

They work. But when you've got a bunch of numb nuts violating it, there has to be consequences.

Ryan Hedrick (5:04)

Officer Binford accused of looking into his ex-wife, and prosecutors say that he used another officer's laptop to access this technology and track the movements of his wife. And they said while speaking with his ex-wife, detectives learned that Binford had an unusual knowledge of her whereabouts. He knew wherever she was going. He knew where she was at. That's a problem, man. He was tracking her across the city.
