Tamar and Nigel.
**SPEAKER_2** (0:01)
Do you believe these characters?
**Nigel** (0:02)
They're weirdos.
**Don Jr.** (0:06)
I got a message about one o'clock in the morning from one of the people at his office that he had passed away. He was like a member of the family to the Detroit South Bank.
**Nigel** (0:17)
That was President Trump calling in to NBC News after the passing of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham. Very emotional, Donald Trump, if you listen to him in a lot of the interviews he was doing over the weekends, very emotional, those guys were buddies. I mean, you go back to 2016, Hammer. I mean, he bashed Trump. I'm talking about Lindsey Graham. You go back to 2016 and then became its staunch ally. So more on the passing of the sudden passing, the shocking passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. We called him Graham Nasty on this show, affectionately enough.
More on that in just a moment. First quick update on the weekend crime numbers.
**Hammer** (0:50)
So this is kind of where we're at for Indy.
This, what I'm about to read, is considered not bad. OK, not bad.
**Nigel** (0:59)
I'm going into this with the mindset that this is not that bad.
**Hammer** (1:03)
Not bad. OK, right. It's kind of like a cult regular season. You didn't make the playoffs, but it's not bad. You're not the Browns.
From Friday through Sunday, six people shot, one stabbed, one killed. This includes a person shot and killed downtown, though, in what we call the high-profile touristy areas. Additionally, a female was struck and killed by a hit and run driver, also downtown in the hotel touristy areas. But if you're just looking at the shootings and the killings and the stabbing, one's taking place every 10.2 hours this weekend.
**Nigel** (1:48)
I hate it. It's still too much.
**Hammer** (1:50)
It's too much.
**Nigel** (1:51)
One is too many.
**Hammer** (1:53)
Now, this morning, now that was just Friday through Sunday. This morning, we woke up to a man shot and killed on the far east side.
But, there's a but to this. This sounds like it was a case of self-defense. The shooter cooperating with the police, and something we've seen, Nigel, over the last two years here in central Indy, and honestly, ever since constitutional carry became the law, you're seeing an uptick in justifiable homicides.
**Nigel** (2:24)
I want to see those numbers.
**Hammer** (2:26)
Right. Now, they still count as homicides, but there's a big difference, right? The hero of the Greenwood Park mall shooting executed a justifiable homicide. It was still homicide, but it saved lives. He wasn't charged, and it's the right thing to do.
Now that so many citizens are carrying themselves, I feel like the justifiable homicides are growing year after year. So what kind of information can we take from this?
**Nigel** (2:58)
Well, I think the information we take is that criminals better be careful. Criminals better be paying attention. Criminals better be looking at the Donut County, saying, wow, I go outside Marion County, I'm going to get put away for a long time. They're even putting billboards up about it in Johnson County, for God's sake.
**Hammer** (3:16)
They're bragging about it in Johnson County. Hey, we ain't Marion County. OK, all right.
But also, it just goes to show, while the prosecutor and mayor want to do this big victory lap on crime is down, crime is down. Look for the reason why it's down. The reasons why, I think, in any particular order, legislation that has been changed to work around Ryan Mears and the prosecutor, bringing in more federal prosecutors. And once constitutional carry became the law, I think more law abiding citizens know their rights. And let's just say they're not as patient as law enforcement. When somebody steps into their home or tries to harm one of their loved ones, maybe they've been reading Guy Relford's book, maybe they've been listening to Monday Gun Day, but they know what their rights are. And that repeat offender will not be repeating any more offenses, to put it mildly.
You heard President Trump at the top there. It sounded pretty sad about the passing of Lindsey Graham. I mean, this was kind of out of nowhere. And I know there's a lot of conspiracy theorists. Well, did Russia poison him? He just left from Ukraine. That sounds like a Putin thing.
My aunt, who was the picture of perfect health, died this exact same way.
**Nigel** (4:43)
Oh, no, you're kidding.
**Hammer** (4:44)
Very skinny woman, Ann, Ann Herald. Very skinny young lady. Happened to have a heart condition that was worse than she thought. And had that aortic catastrophe. And boom, it's an instant killer. And that is what allegedly killed Lindsey Graham.
