Let's have a good time today, man, let's go. It's The Hammer and Nigel Show. I'm Jason Hammer, Big Nige is out, he's got herpes, Jerry Lopez, Indy Spanglish, very kind to fill in for a blistering Nige. How are you?

Yeah, I gave him a little prescription for Valtrek, should clear up in a couple of days. So yeah, you got me today and tomorrow till the symptoms start to go away.

**Jason Hammer** (0:42)
Speaking of blistering, heat advisory in effect. Oh, don't roll your eyes at me, Allison, stop it.
Heat advisory in effect, the heat index or the kids would say now indices, triple digits. So it's going to be this way for a couple of days. And Jerry, I will stand by the statement. If you walk outside right now and the sweat immediately starts to build on your nether region and you're hot and you feel miserable, it's still better than having to scrape off your car in January and be negative 10 I will take this every single time.

Yeah, I agree. This is what Iraq feels like. So if you want to know what troops and stuff feels like in Iraq, this is it. I say when it's so hot and the wind blows, that it's actually hotter. That's what this is what it feels like today.

**Jason Hammer** (1:32)
This is pizza roll weather. We said this yesterday. When you open up the oven and you're getting out the pizza rolls or whatever you're cooking, the pizza and that gust of wind comes out of the oven and hits you in the face. This is kind of what it feels like when the breeze blows. It's the pizza roll wind. That's what we're dealing with. Heat advisory is in effect. And we could have some storms on 4th of July. Might put a little cramp in your style if you're somebody like me that likes to blow a bunch of crap up. So we'll keep an eye on that forecast as the week goes on.
Big day at the Supreme Court. We'll talk about that coming up in just a little bit. But I want to start here in Indy. I always like to start in our backyard if we can.
Violent arrest of an offender downtown. Now, I've seen this story on like the local news sites and websites. But I feel like it kind of should be a bigger deal, Jerry. Some lunatic was arrested for stomping somebody to death.
Stomped one person to death near the government center downtown, right where our lawmakers park, where people work at near Senate Avenue. And another individual was nearly stomped to death in critical condition.
Court documents show that a man was stomped at least 15 times over the course of 60 seconds as he laid on the ground by a homeless guy who was down on his luck. Now, he has since been arrested. He's charged with murder and attempted murder. But this was a disgruntled homeless guy who was mad that he wasn't getting any help from other members of the homeless community, stomping somebody to death downtown Indianapolis by the government center.

I mean, the crazy thing 15 times is a lot of times to kick or stomp anybody. I mean, imagine seeing that in person 15 times.

**Jason Hammer** (3:40)
And what a gruesome way to die. Like if you get shot, it's awful. If you get stabbed, it's awful.
And depending on where the wound is, it might be a quick release into the afterlife. Being stomped to death, just absolutely brutal.
So with all due respect, Boss Hogsett and Ryan Mears and all these people that want to tell you, oh, downtown's fine, downtown's safe. People were being stomped to death right where our lawmakers work. Now, if you speak to some folks that work over there, because it's not just, you know, members of the General Assembly, there are people that work at the government center. They're not allowed to carry when they go to work. Now, the lawmakers are, you know, the lawmakers, oh, you bet you're sweet ass. They can carry their firearms in and protect themselves. But the people that work at the food services, the people that do the admin, the people that work in other departments, you're not allowed to have a weapon in that place. I think that's ridiculous.

**Jerry Lopez** (4:46)
Yeah, I used to work there, actually. I worked at the US. Government Center South, which is called the Indian Intelligent Fusing Center now, and we weren't allowed to carry weapons. I mean, law enforcement was in and out all day with weapons, but no, we couldn't carry anything.
