Ep 286 | Is the Left Too WEIRD to Win the Midterms? | Miranda Devine | The Glenn Beck Podcast
The Glenn Beck Program
October 10, 2026
What’s a bigger threat to America: Islamists or Marxists? With the midterms approaching, New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, author of "The Big Guy: How a President and His Son Sold Out America," argues the two are impossible to separate.

What Donald Trump did was he came in as the big disruptor, as the uncontrollable president, which is why they had to destroy him.

It took me $105 to fill up my tank two days ago.

And what are we doing embracing the enemy, as in Zoran Mabdani and these Islamo-fascists?
Glenn Beck (0:20)
What is your sense on what's coming this election?
I honestly, I don't even know where to start with you, because there is so much going on, and you have a handle on a little bit of everything. I guess I want to start with...
With all of the things that are in the news, the election, El-Sayed, France on fire, everything that is going on, it just seems like a lesson of don't go in that direction. But I'm not sure if we are. I'm seeing polls now that are showing that maybe it's closer than we thought, like within one point with him. The Hispanics seem to be coming back to the Republicans. It's the latest poll I saw earlier this week. What is your sense on what's coming this election? Where are we?
Miranda Devine (1:19)
Yeah, I mean, just on a pure gut instinct, I feel that things were pretty dire a couple of weeks ago, and that Republican morale hit rock bottom. And since then, there's been a bit of a reality check, and people kind of shaking their heads and going, what are we thinking of? You know, let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
And there have been a few good economic indicators. The president's been out on the campaign trail doing rallies. Scott Besson's been doing his usual miraculous job of soothing financial worries. And it looks as if things are starting to the sort of building blocks of a campaign, if not victory, at least not a rout, are starting to come into place. And at the same time, look, even the, you know, we talk about events overseas, but I think even that Air Dubai near 9-11 disaster that was rescued by these heroes, even that, obviously it plays into Netanyahu's election, which is at the end of October. But also in a way, it just reminds everybody about the dangers. It reminds everybody of 9-11, of who the enemy is. And what are we doing embracing the enemy, as in Zoran Mamdani and these Islamo-fascists?
Glenn Beck (2:53)
So let me go there, because El-Sayed, Barack Obama is going to campaign. Barack Obama put his sister on the terror watch list, and now Barack Obama is going to go campaign with him. How is that, first of all, that has to be just math.
Barack, we need you. We're not going to win this without you getting Detroit. Is that how you read why he's going out? Because how is that even possible?
Miranda Devine (3:22)
100 percent. El-Sayed's problem, as you saw in the primaries, is he doesn't get the black vote. They don't like him. He might be able to get every Muslim in Dearborn to get out and vote for him, but he's not liked by black working class, the sort of Democrat classic base supposedly.
Glenn Beck (3:46)
Can Obama bridge that?
Miranda Devine (3:49)
I mean, he's the great black hope, isn't he? But he didn't really help Kamala Harris last time. I feel like he's regarded, certainly I regard him this way, as he's certainly no man of the people if he's ever been one, and he's increasingly out of touch and sort of effete and elitist. I'm not sure how that will go. It may swing some votes, but there is a real mistrust between Blacks and the Muslims who've moved into communities. I mean, you see it all the time.
You know, I mean, they're hard-working Muslim immigrants, but they buy the bodegas in the areas that Black people frequent and put up the prices and don't abide shoplifting or whatever. So there's just this sort of negative vibe that happens in suburbs where there is a big Muslim influx. So I think it's a real problem, and I'm not sure that Barack Obama is going to fix that for him, but it does show a certain amount of desperation. Pull out your Trump card, so to speak.
Glenn Beck (4:55)
If you had to concentrate on two problems, the Islamist growth here in America and its growing influence or the Marxist growing influence, which one is bigger and more severe?
Miranda Devine (5:14)
Well, I mean, it's hard to extricate one from the other because they formed this unholy alliance, the red-green alliance. And you see this all around the world where you've got these socialist kids on campuses wearing kafirs and saying, free Palestine.
