Welcome to the show. It's so great to have you here. I will just do a weather check. It's quite overcast today, but I am expecting the sun to come out later because the weather forecast says that it's going to be, I think, about 26 degrees. And I have to say, we have probably had the, we have had an unprecedented run of warm weather here in the UK. I don't remember it ever being this consistent.
Maybe when I was a kid, maybe when I was about eight, I do remember summer holidays where every day was sunny and warm, but that might be just nostalgia taking over. So yeah, we are having an amazing summer, and I am loving it.
The World Cup's over. I know this is probably gonna be, you're gonna be listening to this a few weeks after the World Cup's over, because I do record my podcast episodes in advance. So apologies if this sounds a bit belated, but yeah. The World Cup's over. We didn't win, but you know what? Our team did us absolutely proud. The England team did. They were amazing to watch mostly, and that runner-up, that third place match with France. Oh my gosh. I think it was the best one of the whole tournament. It was amazing. I absolutely loved it.
We went out with our heads held high. So yeah. Also, it was fab to have the World Cup held in America, because when it's in Europe, it's quite the same each year. You don't really realize where it is. You don't notice any difference. But I feel like America really put some of their hospitality and entertainment into the World Cup this year. And it just made it extra special. And I loved it. Some people were complaining about the half time show in the final, but you know what? They know how to put on a show, don't they? And I thought it was fab. Even the little things where the way the referees and their team were introduced at the beginning of each match and the stadiums were all amazing too. Absolutely massive. The atmosphere must have been fabulous. So yeah, really, really enjoyed it. I think a lot of people did too. I also think America really loved hosting it and really enjoyed the English and Scottish fans when they were over there. That is the vibe that I got from anything I saw on social media anyway. So yeah, it was all good. Okay, enough about the weather and the World Cup. That's not what you came here for, is it? So let's get into this week's episode. And you may think that the expensive part of decorating is always the big stuff, you know, the full on refurbishments and renovations. But sometimes it might be a sneaky little thing that's quietly draining your bank account when you didn't even realize. It's the wrong stuff, the cushions that you don't use, the paint testers that multiply, the rug that never quite worked, the random lamp you bought when you panicked, the redecorating a room over and over again because it doesn't quite work. And you may never have thought that a home color palette can save you money, which is what we're going to be talking about today. Because you ensure when you have a home color palette that you're not reinventing the wheel and making errors of judgment every time you decorate. I have recently just helped Andy put together a workflow. He's more office based now. He's trying to be off the tools in our construction company, and more working on the business instead of working in the business. And I've had a workflow for quite a couple of years now. It's in Meister Tasks, which is a project management tool and system. And Andy has told me for a long time that he is a snowflake. His to do's and his task list are different all the time. They're different from anybody else's. He can't possibly have a workflow that repeats the same things over and over again, because what he does is different. And I really, it's really took me a while to get him on board to the fact that he's not a snowflake and he is mostly repeating the same things over and over again as the rest of us are. And we finally put this workflow together and he started to use it. And I think he's starting to realize that that is the case. We are not reinventing the wheel every single week when we sit down to work.
