The John Doyle Show
September 23, 2026
In this episode of "The John Doyle Show," John debunks a video made by Jeremy Boreing in which he attempts to uphold the idea of America as a propositional nation while discrediting those who view being an American as more than possessing a piece of paper.

There's been an ongoing discussion about what it even means to be an American in the wake of the UT football game scandal, where you see a student section populated by people who don't look exactly Texan. Lifelong Texans like Beau French chime in and say, hey, this appears to be a big problem, I think we should solve it. And all of these ethnic enclaves come out of the woodwork to say, so true, Beau French, we are here, we are foreigners, we have no intention of assimilating into American culture and guess what? We're staying here. This then prompted the Neocon class to come out and say, well, hold on, hold on, we have to have a real conversation about what an American even is, because you're over here saying, this person's not American, this person is. What do you even mean by that? Let's get into the weeds. Now, I'm willing to have that conversation, as I will demonstrate today, because we are going to get so into the weeds that we are literally going to react to an entire 45-minute monologue. More on that in a second. But I find that question to be very subversive. I find it very curious that you could see the reaction of an American, bread and born, native stock, Texan patriot.
This guy looks at a student section that looks nothing like what he's used to, and says, hold on, I don't think these people are very American. And instead of coming out and saying, I can see why you're, well, now hold on. What even is an American? What do you mean by that? Meanwhile, the people come in and say, so true, I'm not an American, and guess what? We're going to replace you. We're going to vote for Democrats. LOL, get owned. So it's like, if you could at least agree on the fact that some people aren't Americans, and we can pretty much clock that, even if just by their behavior, then maybe we could have a more productive conversation about what exactly defines an American. But I find it to be very subversive that in reaction to Patriots' understanding, hold on, we're being replaced in our own country by foreigners, nobody asked for this, in reaction to that, they say, well, you can't even precisely define what an American is. Now, can you? So who are you to say that they're any less American than you are? And so on. Anyway, this all obviously has caused a big problem. We've covered it on the show. Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of The Daily Wire, he did a video on this like two months ago, I think, answering this question, you know, what is an American? Really, let's define it.
45-minute monologue, and then this gets posted again in the wake of this discussion as basically an antidote, right? Basically to say, hey, we covered this two months ago. Here is the actual answer to the question.
It's a well-intentioned, I guess, 45-minute breakdown of really what the creedal nation, the propositional nation is really about, this idea that America isn't sustained by heritage so much as it is a commitment to an idea. Now, in the video, he tries to present it as though that's not what he's saying. He tries to distance himself from the idea that we're an idea. He concludes the video, spoiler alert, by saying, so are we an idea? Are we a people? Neither. We're a people practicing an idea. Okay, well, clearly that's not true. Clearly that is not an accurate definition as to what is going on in this country. So anyway, we're gonna break down literally the entire thing because I didn't actually finish it when I watched it. I watched 20 minutes, rage quit, came back, watched the conclusion, and then rage quit a second time. You're about to see why. Do stay tuned.
Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to The John Doyle Show. So, the question, of course, of the day, what is an American? Many people have been asking this today, yesterday, the last few weeks, the better part of the last decade, and everything that we've seen, right, materialized with the consequences of mass immigration and so on during the Biden years. A lot of people have been experiencing a little bit of patriot identity crisis. A lot of people, even if they don't have a grounding in philosophy or history, are seeing these things happen. They're seeing things like what happened at UT Austin, what's happened in response to ICE with hundreds and hundreds of people taking to the streets and marching and rioting, carrying foreign flags. People are obviously a little skittish with this whole immigration thing. People are obviously taking issue with this idea that every human being on the planet is basically a potential American, a potentially, excuse me, a temporarily un-Americanized American, an American in the making. There is only two states about to be an American and an American and so on. A lot of people are very upset about this. No one wants to see this in their country. These signs are obviously signs of disorder. This is stuff that represents rising ascendant issues that we're going to have to confront. Not only that, but we've seen the DSA take off and increasingly, the Democrat Party is itself becoming more and more foreign. So you've got this internal push that's been driven heavily by very obviously foreign candidates who have no real love or appreciation for America.
