Live from the Liberty University Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, it's America's favorite gun-toting, Bible-clinging, deplorable American. Todd Starnes.

**Todd Starnes** (0:28)
Oh, yeah. Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Todd Starnes Radio Show. A little shenanigans here in the building. Wow.
What a weird day. So I was heading to Dallas, Texas, and what a great joy. We met so many of our great listeners in Dallas at the First Baptist Church here. Dr. Robert Jeffress really rolled out the red carpet, and of course, Dr. Jeffress is the official chaplain of the Todd Starnes Radio Show. And our friends at Barnes & Noble were there. We did the big book signing, and it was a wonderful thing. As I was driving though, and a lot of folks think, Oh, Starnes, he takes the private jet.
Well, Dylan was using the jet this weekend, and so I had to drive. So I took the Cadillac out, and by the way, you know what I did, Dylan? Rarely have I done this, but the Cadillac was incredibly grateful. I went for the Premium Blend Gasoline, and with just a tap of the gas pedal, I was driving 90 miles an hour.

**Dylan** (1:36)
Your car is very thankful for you.

**Todd Starnes** (1:38)
Very smooth, a smooth ride at that Premium. So yeah, the Caddy can't get used to it, so we're back to normal this week.

**Dylan** (1:46)
Cut in these times.

**Todd Starnes** (1:47)
No, no, no. But let me just say this, gas prices were cheaper in Arkansas than they were in Tennessee, and they weren't too terribly bad in Texas, to be honest with you. So anyway, I'm driving away from the Memphis area, and I noticed it was getting very dark behind me, and I thought, wow, I hope that storm is not coming my way. No, it was actually heading to Memphis, and it was, it's a pretty serious situation.
They had what they call a bow echo and straight line winds. So Dylan, they said the winds were what, 80, 90 miles an hour, and they just slammed into Memphis, and a good chunk of the city is still without power. I know in my neighborhood, none of the traffic lights are working, but I think 140,000 customers, which is almost, I think, four or 500,000 people without power. And it could be days before the powers turn back. Did you lose power last over the weekend?

**Dylan** (2:44)
I didn't lose power. I lost internet.

**Todd Starnes** (2:47)
Oh, that's even worse.

**Dylan** (2:48)
But yeah, some say it's worse, but if you lose power, you also lose internet.

**Todd Starnes** (2:52)
Miss Helen didn't have any, she didn't have any power at all.

**SPEAKER_4** (2:54)
She didn't. I heard she slept here.

**Todd Starnes** (2:56)
Yeah, she came down to the building. So that's not good.

**Dylan** (2:59)
But we have AC here.

**Todd Starnes** (3:00)
So people were, this is terrible. People were like, Todd, are you okay? And I'm like, yeah, I'm fine. I had no idea what was going on because I normally, when I'm traveling, I'll listen to a podcast or listen to the radio. I like to listen to other radio stations around the nation. And so they're like, are you safe? And I'm like, yeah, I'm on the 17th floor of the JW Marriott. We have a beautiful view of the... Meanwhile, all hell's breaking loose in Memphis. It's there, trees coming down and the power is out and people are...
It's really bad. And we're also in the middle of a massive heat wave. So it's like a double whammy and it is so hot here. And in the South, we're just not built for life without air conditioning.
That's just who we are. I mean, God forbid that the Yankees ever invade again like they did in the 1860s. All they got to do is target the air conditioning, the HVAC people. And that's it. We surrender. We're good. Please. We'll do whatever you want.

**Dylan** (3:57)
Well, a lot of people in the South have those like necklace fans. So, you know, that you get at Disney World. So some of us will be fine.

**Todd Starnes** (4:04)
So I want to...
Thank you, Dylan. You're welcome. By the way, remind me, I've got to tell you the Bucky story. There was some weird stuff going down at Bucky's.

**Dylan** (4:17)
We did get Bucky's merch from Todd.

**SPEAKER_6** (4:18)
I will say that.

**Todd Starnes** (4:20)
Save that. That's the only reason I went. But I got to get to this story first. We've got a lot of news to cover. So anyway, so the storms hit and power is out. Things are crazy here. And there is a guy running for Congress. He's a Democrat. And he looks like, I mean, he's super skinny guy.
