Guy, did you see this rollout that Elon Musk had of the Tesla Roadster last night? Have you seen this?
Guy (0:08)
Oh, my, yes.
And I can't tell how much is special effects or stage props and how much that was actually real. And if that was all real, this is pretty dramatically cool.
SPEAKER_1 (0:21)
So he rolled out the Tesla Roadster at some big event last night, and the automated vehicle, electric vehicle goes up on this loop, flips over, and then almost looking like Doc Brown's vehicle, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, like smoke comes out of the bottom, it hovers, and then it's able to land safely on the ground.
Guy (0:46)
It's got like thrusters.
It does a 360, like a barrel roll in the air. Then it comes down and settles down with these thrusters like it's a lunar landing and gently sets down on the stage. And I'm sitting there going, if that thing's real, that's pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_1 (1:05)
So this was a special rollout, and Elon says that this vehicle can go from zero to 60 in less than a second and reach speeds of up to 230 miles per hour and even fly. The vehicle reportedly uses thrusters to achieve the extreme acceleration.
Guy (1:26)
Yeah, compressed air. The thing actually uses compressed air, which is pretty amazing when you think about it. And the stat that jumped out at me, it said I saw zero to 60 in 0.9 seconds.
SPEAKER_1 (1:38)
Yeah, less than a second.
Guy (1:40)
9 Now, I'm somebody who owns a car where it's zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds, and I'm pretty proud of that. This thing .9. I mean, that's unbelievable.
SPEAKER_1 (1:51)
And 230 miles per hour. That's like qualifying for the Indy 500
Guy (1:57)
Oh, man, I remember being at the track the first time I ever heard a qualifying speed over 230 And I thought that was the most amazing thing that would never happen. And this is a street vehicle that can run that fast. That's amazing stuff.
SPEAKER_1 (2:10)
They go into production in 2028, so we still got a little time. There's been no price point given on this bad boy yet.
Guy (2:18)
Right.
SPEAKER_1 (2:19)
I can't even imagine how much this thing costs. But already Ron DeSantis was saying, Hey, if it comes out while I'm still the governor in Florida, which it's not, we'll make it legal, street legal.
Guy (2:32)
Yeah. Well, and I heard the next Indiana Secretary of State once won, too.
SPEAKER_1 (2:39)
That day was pretty wild, man. It was like something out of the Jetsons, honestly.
Guy (2:43)
It was pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_1 (2:45)
It's a collaboration between Tesla and Space X, the two marquee companies that Elon runs. And keep in mind, known genius AOC has said that Elon Musk is really dumb and he's lucked into all of his money. But yet last night, he's got a car that rolls up on a ramp, does a kick flip and lands with compression right there safely in front of other vehicles.
Guy (3:10)
What I mean, we're talking about the first trillionaire in history, and he's really dumb. Man, give me some of those dumb genes right there. I'll be happy with that.
SPEAKER_1 (3:19)
And look, I don't know if he's the one that's coming up with all the calculations to do this, but he's the boss, right? It's his company that's able to have rockets land right back on the launch pad on some boat in the middle of the ocean. That's unbelievable to me.
Guy (3:34)
If I'm a guy who hires all the right people that turn around and make me a trillionaire, then I'm smart. I'm smart because I hired all the right people.
I mean, no, I'm smart. You can't take this away from Elon Musk. You just can't.
SPEAKER_1 (3:49)
We call Bill Polian smart. Why? Because he brought in Tony Dungey. He drafted Peyton Manning, brought in Edger and James. OK, you had great employees. They did the heavy lifting, but you were the guy behind it all.
Guy (4:02)
You get credit for that. That's exactly how the boss works.
