Ugh, do we have to? All right, I can tell by the passive aggressive side I am getting from Sister Park over here that we do have to. Fine, I'm thankful for footnotes instead of endnotes and dust jackets.

But see, was that so hard? I'm thankful for the diaries of William Clayton and for the historians that came before us so that we might be able to write better podcast episodes.

That's right, Sunstone is a pretty small nonprofit. We've been around for over 45 years and there have been times of feast and famine, but I'm really proud that I've been able to be part of helping keep a tradition of Mormon scholarship alive in a pretty big way by helping Sunstone keep its doors open. One of the things I'm really thankful for is that we're able to pay folks like Bryan for his work and research.
There isn't anyone else I know who is so dedicated day after day, hour after hour to understanding Mormonism.

Well, you research it all day long too, lady.

We couldn't do it without the people that value our work. I know in our culture, we're supposed to donate all of our time and our talents for free, but it doesn't work like that in the real world. So we extra appreciate them people that have given generously to the podcast, even though the podcast is free. When people do that, when you donate, you're literally volunteering to help make this podcast free to other people. So in that sense, if you enjoy the podcast, you should also be grateful for our listeners because they keep this going for all of us.

You've mentioned this elsewhere, but one of our favorite things about this time of year is seeing all the unique and wonderful ways that people donate. Some people leave a hidden message in their donation amount, like one of our recurring donors who sends us $18.42 each month in honor of, of course, Emma Smith Founding Relief Society. I think it's really fun to see the creative ways that people send messages like that to us. It's part of being in the Secret Cool Kids Club. You give us money, it's coated with some weird meanings, we promise you eternal salvation, then we all run off to Upper California, hand in hand together.
Yeah, when I think about it, you're right. I am very thankful for the listeners.
