It's about damn time, according to the great philosopher Lizzo.
We are finally leaving Nauvoo. I'm so excited. No offense, listeners. I know lots of you tune in to hear all the juicy juice about Joseph Smith, you know, all the shenanigans in Nauvoo. But to me, that's the least interesting part of Mormonism.

We're not even joking when very good friends of ours that listen to this podcast, it's Joseph Smith and that's the end of things. And we sometimes it's like eating gross vegetables where it's, we kind of had to force some stuff down because our interests really are in the future.

And here's the thing, we are nerds. We know it. We know that like I was thinking the other day, I find great joy in finding what kind of apples the Smiths farmed on their old farm, you know, the blushing maidens. Yeah, I'm sure that most people don't find that interesting, but it's true. Once we get out of the Joseph Smith stuff, maybe it's cause it's so well known and everyone talks about it and debates on it. And there are 400 billion podcasts that you can go and listen to all the Joseph Smith stuff. Great, it's not that it's not important or foundational. I just think it's not where the good stuff is. It's like once Joseph Smith dies, all the real demons of all of his followers come out to play. So we bring that all up to say that this is our final episode of the Nauvoo season. And starting next episode, we enter a new season, a new territory of Mormon history.

Part of it too is the Joseph Smith era source-wise, really everything is known. Occasionally, we'll find something new, but for all intents and purposes, the key sources are all out there, all well known and have been discussed.

Was it spring of this year that we? No, it wasn't when we went to BYU for Clayton. That was last year.

Oh, we've been in Nauvoo for so long. Yeah, we're really excited because coming up and we hope you'll stick with us. In fact, I think you'll stick with us even more because you're going to have your mind blown. We've written probably 10 episodes now of Winter Quarters and even I am shocked.
I'm just going to, should I tease this right now?

Absolutely.

You guys, I found they were running a brothel in Winter Quarters?

Yeah, no, we found a whore house in Winter Quarters. And when I say this, no, it wasn't the Gentiles or Mormons running it for Gentiles. It was Mormon on Mormon prostitution.

So yeah, let's talk about this year really quick, this season, then we'll talk about next season and kind of talk about where we're at. This is going to be our wrap up episode. A lot of times listeners just want to hear Bryan and I shoot the breeze about our lives. I don't think that my life, and well, okay, I've had a pretty interesting year, so have you, but we can talk about that. But to me, I'm the most excited just to get out of Nauvoo and to stop talking about Joseph Smith. It's so boring.

I mean, Nauvoo is fascinating and we have to come sometimes remind ourselves that it is fascinating. And especially if you're not terribly familiar with Nauvoo, in that seven year period, a lot of things happen. Mormonism changes, I think, very arguably more in that seven years than any other comparable period.
