Well, Brian, I don't know about you, but this is how many weeks going into. Under the Banner of Heaven conversation.
**Bryan Buchanan** (0:59)
It's starting to feel like Pioneer Children podcasted as they walked and walked and walked.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (1:04)
That's right, folks. I am legally, morally, spiritually obligated to tell you that I will talk about this topic forever.
But the longer we go, the longer it does keep us from our beloved Zion. I want to get the Mormons and their wagons away from Nauvoo and into the Promised Land and pick up on the succession crisis, but we're not quite there yet, are we, Bryan?
**Bryan Buchanan** (1:24)
We are not.
We still have a couple more episodes to do, which we will, we're getting to. Plus, as we've mentioned before, we are going to do the similar kind of breakdown episodes for the Keep Suite documentary with our friend Christina Rosetti, so.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (1:37)
Yeah, folks have been asking and asking when we're gonna talk about this, when I'm gonna talk about this, obviously, because I know the folks in the documentary. I know Elisa Wall very well, known her for years. We've worked on so many projects together and the documentary is so well done. So we're gonna get into that and we're gonna have some interviews and actually, we're gonna be going down to Shortcrick to do that in a couple weeks. So we're excited about that.
So all of that is to say, we are combining these episodes. There will be three more banner episodes. Doesn't mean we won't talk about it again because we plan on talking about it at Sunstone.
So we're gonna do three more banner and then we're gonna do the Keep Sweet. It's gonna be, what do we call it? Cable news, television streaming summer. It's like a hot girl summer, but with more eating hot Cheetos in your bed.
**Bryan Buchanan** (2:22)
You all just wanna talk about TV. We know it.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (2:25)
So we're gonna do that and then we'll get back to the succession crisis. Poor Sidney Rigdon, we left him sitting there in the dark.
**Bryan Buchanan** (2:32)
James String is trying to anoint people with phosphorus and oil and he just can't do it.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (2:37)
And here's the thing. Here's the thing that bothers me about that is Chris Smith has done this great interview with this expert on the dynamics of the succession crisis like months ago. That poor guy, it's coming. We've got it for you. We haven't forgotten.
We've got more good Mormon history. And if you are tuning in for the Under the Banner episodes and you're liking our voices, which we're getting a lot of great feedback, by the way. And if you are, come learn about Mormon history. Go back to episode one. As one of our beloved apostles says, come join with us.
Hi, this is Lindsay Hansen Park.
**Bryan Buchanan** (3:11)
And this is Bryan Buchanan.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (3:13)
Bringing you the story of Mormonism from the shadow of the everlasting hills, straight out of Zion. This isn't your grandpa's Mormon history.
**Bryan Buchanan** (3:40)
This is the tale of Mormon saints and sinners from our roots until present day.
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (3:45)
Gird your loins, lock your hearts, and pay your tithing, because we're bringing you the story of Mormonism in all its paradisiacal glory.
**Bryan Buchanan** (3:53)
It's the Sunstone History Podcast.
All right, so our first scene in episode four, we see the Lowe's house and everything in it is smashed. Now, did this actually happen, and if so, why?
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (4:29)
So now, remember, last episode, we talked about the actual details of the crime, and we wanted to do that because it is complicated. We wanted you to know fact from fiction in going forward. In the crime, there are two families, the Lowe family and the Stowe family. The Lowe's are the bishopric and Relief Society president. The Stowe's are the stake president. I wish those names didn't rhyme. It just makes it difficult.
Is it not enough that there are so many bearded brothers to keep track of?
**Bryan Buchanan** (4:57)
And they have changing names in the series?
**Lindsay Hansen Park** (5:00)
I kind of love it because when you go down to Short Creek and you meet my FLDS friends, Fundamentalist friends, there are so many people with the same name, like so many John Barlows, so many. And that was by design, right? Like name people after their father to kind of confuse the government. But in this case, the LDS are making it a little confusing to tell everybody apart. So yes, the scene with the Lowe's house. So what we do in the investigation is we have Andrew Garfield going in, breaking into a family's house because they learned that there are other people on this supposed list or the target, their targets of these brothers.
