Okay, I just have to start out and say something because a couple episodes back when we were talking about Jose Astout, I mentioned a famous quote that Jose Astout gave when he was in Missouri, and he said, Brethren, eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we fight. In a very typical Utah Draper mom way, I said, I would love that to be made in vinyl. And, friend of the podcast, and forensic genealogist and listener up in Washington, Lisa Lewis did just that. She made me a vinyl cutout of those words.

When Joseph Smith entered Kirtland, Ohio for the first time, he had only the year before established a church and brought forth a new book of scripture, the Book of Mormon. After moving the church and most of its members from Western New York and establishing its headquarters at Kirtland, while simultaneously establishing his Zion and communities in Missouri, he oversaw a decade of both peace and prosperity and chaos and conflict.
