It's October 20th. Okay, so big news for the New York Rangers goal-tending situation. Dylan Garand was put on waivers before the season started, and a lot of fans were nervous he might get picked up by a rival team. Luckily, he cleared waivers and is now the new starter after Igor Shesterkin got injured for the year. Garand's been showing out since he took over. He's sporting a tie 929 save percentage with 4 wins and a 1.85 goals, against average. That's impressive, especially considering he kicked off the season grabbing a shutout in his first game against the Detroit Red Wings. He stepped in for Shesterkin right after that injury, stopping 11 of 12 shots against the Capitals. The Rangers are on fire with 6 straight wins at Madison Square Garden, tying for their second longest home opening win streak ever. That kind of luck is a huge boost for their confidence. Garand himself seems ready to rise to the occasion. In an interview, he mentioned how much he admires Shesterkin and expressed empathy for him being out. It's clear he's keen to make the most of this chance he's been given, and that mindset can make a big difference. So we'll see if Garand can keep this momentum rolling.

He's got the skill, and the coach's confidence behind him.

The team's riding high, and if he keeps proving himself, the sky's the limit for this young goalie.
