A lot of patriotism on display this past weekend. I love it.
Love seeing hot chicks and star-spangled bikinis, a bunch of drunk townies in the neighborhood coming this close to blowing their fingers off in their backyard firework displays. And yes, that's me. I'm that townie. I'm Jason Hammer, Brian Alvey filling in for Big Nige today.
Somebody that was not a fan of the backyard fireworks displays was Gregg Doyle from the Indy Star. Now, he's their sports reporter. And I think that's important to point out. The sports guy, very upset about people shooting off fireworks, to the point to where he was constantly retweeting, quote-tweeting, sharing his own article. He was going full Angel Reese. It was the me-bound, a retweet of your own article, a retweet of your own story, a quote-tweet of your own retweet. Hell, at one point, he retweeted James Briggs, retweeting his own story.
12 times, Brian, 12 times the sports guy that I saw, maybe there's more. I went down his Twitter feed today because I was kind of curious.
12 times, this guy posted about fireworks. And for those who think I'm being a little bit over the top, these were the times and dates. July 1st at 10:25 a.m. This is all on his Twitter timeline. July 1st at 10:28 a.m. July 1st at 11:26 a.m. July 1st at 12:15 p.m. July 1st at 1:18 p.m. July 1st at 5:47 p.m. July 1st at 7:35 p.m. July 1st at 9:49 p.m. July 3rd at 1:01 p.m. July 3rd at 9:34 p.m. July 4th at 7:08 p.m. July 4th at 7:49 p.m. The sports guy from the star bitching and moaning that people shooting off fireworks is bad for combat veterans and dogs, Brian. So I figure you would be the perfect guy to address all of this kind of stuff. For those who don't know, you are a combat veteran. You and Jerry do the podcast, Those Ash Holes, and a lot of times the conversation is about the times you guys have served in the military. So I'm going to give you the floor here. Twelve times the sports guy tweeting, quote tweeting, sharing his thoughts on how fireworks are bad for combat veterans.

Oh, you know, so many thoughts. Where do you start? OK, first first and foremost, you know, as a combat veteran, what I want you to do on your Independence Day is I want you to go out there and I want you to enjoy all the glorious freedom of loud noises you possibly can't blow everything the hell up. Just fire off all the fireworks. Have a good time, because guess what, folks? I'm acutely aware of the fact that it generally happens at the same time frame every year. I mean, we have to prepare for it if, in fact, and there's moments where it sends a little bit of an unsettling nerve down my spine if I'm caught off guard with it or anything like that. But if you're having true issues with this as a combat veteran or anybody else that has any sort of post-traumatic stress from from loud noises.
It is up to us as veterans to conform back into society, not for everybody around us to just to coddle us.
And the last thing I'm going to do is expect everybody, everybody to curtail their entire life, the same people that we that we stood vigilant to protect and defend when serving in the military in a combat zone here, by all means. Now handle us with kit gloves, go out of your way to not do this, because this might offend us, this might bother us. It's just, it's, it's, it's, it's just conduct on becoming to me. And it's not, I'm not the virtue signal you're looking for. As a combat, I'm a combat veteran, not a victim. And again, there are people that have legitimate issues with these, with their post-traumatic stress, with related. But at this point, you need to do what you need to do to, to, to deal with it. Get the help you need. Buy some noise-canceling headphones. Find the, the, the, somebody said, you know, I just put my dog in the, in the walk-in closet for a couple of hours on 4th July. It's fine. We'll go to the closet too. I mean, it's just, we got to stop begging people to treat us like we're this poor, defenseless little sub-minority group that needs all the help because, you know, we were done so wrong. No, we're the people that stand vigilant to protect our society, and we need to continue to act and carry ourselves as such.
