Today is October 20th. You're listening to New York Rangers News Today. AI-powered coverage of your squad. Alright, so the New York Rangers are having quite the season, and Pavel Dorofeyev is at the center of it all. They snagged him to be their top scorer, giving up two first-round picks, and signing him to a hefty $77 million contract over seven years.

But here's the kicker. He's only got two goals through 11 games so far. On Monday night, the Rangers took down the Anaheim Ducks 5-2, bringing their home record to a perfect 6-0. But Dorofeyev? He hasn't hit the net at home since their opener against the Tampa Bay Liming earlier this month. Definitely not the start they were hoping for, that's for sure. Now, don't get it twisted, he's putting in the work. Dorofeyev had 10 shots against the Ducks, with five on goal. He even had a golden opportunity on a power play, but ended up hitting the post instead.

That moment really sums up how things have been going for him. And it wasn't just the Misses. Head Coach Mike Sullivan benched him briefly for not making a smart line change during the first power play.

Dorofeyev made a mistake that Sullivan pointed out, stressing the need for accountability among his top players. At least he got back to the top unit afterward, which shows there's still faith in his potential.

So yeah, while Dorofeyev's not lighting up the scoreboard yet, he's generating chances and clearly trying to break out of this slump. The Rangers are gearing up for a matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, and maybe that's when the tide turns for him.
