Grace Remington (0:05)

Good morning and happy Friday. Welcome into BMTV. I'm Grace Remington with Sean Hagan. We're covering a little bit of everything on today's show. While we like to watch the price of Bitcoin, we're gonna learn how it can help people around the world, regardless of where it's trading at. And while everyone's watching the bond market, we're gonna take a look at real yields and how that impacts the stock market. Plus much more, Sean.

Sean Hagan (0:27)

Yeah, it's gonna be a great show today. I would say pretty comprehensive coverage, going from real rates to human rights and everything in between. Bitcoin eats everything and everything is good for Bitcoin.

Grace Remington (0:39)

And here's who we got coming up on today's show to help us break it all down. Eric Weiss Bitcoin Investment Group, Willem Middelkoop, the founder of the Commodity Discovery Fund, Alex Gladstein and Femi Longue of the Human Rights Foundation, Matt Dines, CIO at Build Asset Management, and Lorenzo Valente, Director of Research at ARK Invest. So let's get into the headlines. Thailand's SEC has issued rules for Bitcoin ETFs to be listed and traded on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, effective October 16th. The funds must use SEC regulated digital asset custodians and investors must acknowledge the risks before trading. Brokers will not be allowed to provide margin loans to purchase the ETFs.

Fidelity Digital Assets says the quantum computing threat to Bitcoin does not appear imminent while developers are actively researching potential defenses. Its report examines quantum resistant signatures, which could strengthen security but take up more block space and reduce transaction capacity. Fidelity believes Bitcoin can adapt while preserving the core properties that underpin its value. Bitcoin Life Insurer, meanwhile, has raised $37.5 million in a round led by Bain Capital Crypto, bringing its total funding to more than $180 million. The Bermuda-based company has signed 15 broker partners as it expands its Bitcoin denominated life insurance business outside the United States.

TD Cohen has raised its Bitcoin price forecast to $109,000 by the end of 2026 and $280,000 by 2029 The updated outlook comes as Bitcoin traded slightly above $82,000 this morning, implying a roughly 34% upside to its year-end target. The analysts expect higher Bitcoin prices to boost strategy's earnings potential, but kept their strategy target at $260.

Independent research firm Citrini Research released a new report saying AI agents and localized assets are creating a new case for fundamental crypto investing. It stated that blockchains offer the round-the-clock programmable financial infrastructure that AI agents need as stocks, treasuries and other assets move on chain. And Treasury Secretary Scott Besson has opposed Judy Shelton as a counselor to advise on currency policy with a particular focus on financial conditions in China. Shelton's previous nomination to the Federal Reserve was blocked in the Senate amid concerns about her views on Fed independence and support for the gold standard. Her new Treasury role does not require Senate confirmation.

And with that, let's go to the markets. Bitcoin is trading around $82,500 today. That's up about half a percentage point. Still struggling to recover from this week's selloffs. And on Wall Street, stock futures are a little bit flat today after yesterday's losses. The SPY is up a little over a tenth of a percentage point, trading at $773.93, triple-Q down 8 tenths of a percentage point at $747.58. Treasury yields remain elevated, the 10-year yield hovering around 5.25%. But off its recent multi-decade highs and the 30-year at 5.62. Gold is also moving higher, trading around $4,200 an ounce. As investors continue to weigh inflation and government debt concerns and, finally, oil, prices are pulling back after yesterday's surge, WTI, around $90 a barrel. That's up 2% on the day, and Brent is near 103 That's down about four-tenths of a percentage as some of the immediate supply fears ease. But Sean, what's sticking out to you today?

Sean Hagan (4:31)

It's good to see Bitcoin still around 82 Like we said yesterday, there's a lot of orders on the books around 81

It's good to see that these prices are getting absorbed and there's buyers stepping in to support this level. It's going to be really interesting to see how we perform over the next couple of days heading into our weekly close. Obviously, we'd all like to see it close with some strength here, but the tape will tell. Also looking at those oil prices coming down, very interesting to see that they're coming down a hair below 105, which we've had analysts say is probably the fair market price at the moment. And this global supply chain is being efficient and bringing that commodity price down. But mind you, that's not something we'll necessarily see at the pump as crack spreads continue to be quite wide.
