It started with one thing. They're looking at Patrick's physiognomy, his appearance, and saying, he looks untrustworthy, he looks like a deer in the headlights, look at this weird looking guy. It started with a bad vibe about him, and I want to know-

Which made people wake up and look into the holes that he was saying.

Matt Moyer (0:13)

It made people retroactively find things that are not really discrepancies.

Shannon's Everywhere (0:18)

Those three kids deserve justice, and that means whoever did it needs to be held responsible. Patrick was never investigated.

Adam Granville (0:26)

My number one would have been the man.

Shannon's Everywhere (0:30)

Do you investigate the man, or do you just believe, oh, she did all this?

Alain Jayoma (0:34)

Would you feel the same way if she was a man? Switch sexes right now.

All right. Hey, everybody. My name is Jayoma. I'm a criminal defense attorney, and I am today hired as a prosecutor on this case. So I'm going to show why Lindsay Clancy should be found guilty of murder.

Shannon's Everywhere (0:58)

What's up? It's Shannon's Everywhere. I'm here to debate the people that think that Lindsay Clancy should be convicted of murder.

I agree that if she did do it, that she should be convicted. I don't think she did it. There's one thing to have a couple holes in a story, but it's a whole different story when you have at least like 30 or 50 holes in a story from a woman who didn't even say a word before she was in handcuffs.

Matt Moyer (1:27)

My name is Matt Moyer. I'm an injury lawyer in Chicago with Clifford Law Offices. I used to be a Federal and State Prosecutor, so I'm no stranger to criminal law.

I believe that this is actually a much closer case than people make it out to be. But I do believe Lindsay Clancy did kill her children, and I believe she was not of the level of mental deterioration that we would call her insane, and she would be found not guilty by reason of insanity. She was in the throes of extremely severe depression to a point which she was basically unrecognizable to family and friends, and it's very unfortunate. But ultimately, at the time of the killing, she did know what she was doing, and if you know what you're doing, you basically can't be found to be insane, and you can't get out of it. I do believe she should be held responsible. She should have been found guilty.

So Patrick.

Shannon's Everywhere (2:15)

We can start with his testimony if you want to do that.

Matt Moyer (2:18)

Go ahead.

Shannon's Everywhere (2:18)

Because first of all, he testified literally within the same two sentences, he got home, pulled in next to Lindsay's car, said he went to the house, couldn't find her, called her on her cell phone because he said he didn't know if she was there because he didn't see her car.

The car that he just said that he parked right next to. I'm going to go one by one here.

Matt Moyer (2:44)

Sure.

Shannon's Everywhere (2:45)

So what do you think about that?

Matt Moyer (2:46)

So to be honest with you, someone who comes home, encounters their wife bleeding, suffering, and then encounters children having been dead is going to be bound to make factual errors in what they remember. Hey, I didn't see her car or it seemed quiet. That's why I called her. There's a number of reasons he could have made a phone call to her.

If he was going to lie in advance and say, oh, hey, I didn't see her car, but it was so obviously right next to him, he could have thought of a better lie. He could have called her when he was supposedly a minute before coming home to fake like he didn't know what was going on if he had killed the kids. So I just don't see those facts being real sticking points that lead us to believe that Patrick did it and that he made up all these very easily falsifiable lies.

Shannon's Everywhere (3:28)

So how many of those indiscrepancies do you think are appropriate?

Matt Moyer (3:34)

I see the discrepancies as they exist being few, and I see them being explainable by how much this guy was traumatized by coming home and finding that his family had been killed and his wife gravely injured.

Alain Jayoma (3:48)

Wait, wait, wait, are you trying to say that Patrick Clancy is the one who committed the murder here?

Shannon's Everywhere (3:53)

Either Patrick Clancy or somebody else we're not aware of yet.
