You guys, in every way, y'all, my pride was exposed as the Lord wrestled my career out of my hands, basically is what happened. He wrestled with me and my identity, with the fear that I felt, and with what we believe. And so we want to expose this and talk about this. What we believe makes life significant, you guys. So those four things we want to talk about today in a quick kind of a quick fashion, pride, identity, fear, and then what we believe makes the life significant.
**Heather Copeland** (0:28)
Oh, we're back, we're back.
**Christy Young** (0:31)
Yes, we're back for a fun one.
Okay, I love it that this one's called Degrees, Diapers and the Death of My Ego. I think.
**Heather Copeland** (0:38)
Yeah, our ego left a long time ago.
**Christy Young** (0:41)
Oh y'all, in the life we thought we had planned for ourselves that God literally flipped on our, flipped on its head.
**Heather Copeland** (0:47)
Five kids, five kids later, diapers, diapers, diapers.
**Christy Young** (0:50)
And how many of y'all can feel this and can laugh at it? I mean, you have some emotion. If we say that, we all have pursued degrees, okay? But then we experienced diapers, okay? Had beautiful kids and the blessing of kids. And then you guys, with that came the death of our egos.
**Heather Copeland** (1:08)
Well, they probably need to be smashed too.
**Christy Young** (1:10)
Mine definitely needed to be smashed. I didn't realize what a big ego I had until I, man, yes, I was so humbled by my first job.
Okay, so welcome back. This is Christy Young and Heather Copeland. Yeah, we love y'all so much. So glad to be back with y'all and then just have fun today with y'all. So we both pursued degrees, pursued career, thought that, well, we're a little different in this. We both were working full time and then God called us home, basically. And then never in a billion years, I thought, but I thought we were homeschooling. They kind of like did want to homeschool, which is so cool. And so, but you guys, all of this, when the Lord calls you home, especially for someone who had planned on a career for life, I don't know.
**Heather Copeland** (1:56)
She had a big career, okay.
**Christy Young** (1:59)
Well, no, I don't even know about that, but I just really thought you guys, I invested a lot of time and money, my husband did too, in law school and graduation and working hard, during the time of my class and getting a job that I really adored, made a six-figure salary. I was super thankful, had an office with a door that locks, okay. So even while I was just cool, that was great for pumping when I had my first daughter. But anyway, at least in the first couple of months until the Lord pulled me home, but you guys, it exposes you guys in every way. All my pride was exposed as the Lord wrestled my career out of my hands, basically is what happened. He wrestled with me and my identity, with the fear that I felt and with what we believe. And so we want to expose this and talk about this. What we believe makes life significant, you guys. So those four things we want to talk about today in a quick kind of a quick fashion, pride, identity, fear, and then what we believe makes the life significant.
**Heather Copeland** (2:55)
So I'll say like with my pride, when I left, I worked.
So I was a counselor, a high school counselor for six years before I kept having babies and we came home. But I was at a high school for two years, and I did like that place. But my ultimate goal was to go back to the high school where I did my internship. And so in God's grace and kindness, a job opening came and I could actually get back to where I wanted to be. So I had the job that I wanted. I was prideful in that because like, dude, I just landed one of the top high schools in Georgia. Like everybody wants to be there. Everybody wants to be at this school.
**Christy Young** (3:36)
Well, and can I, Q&A you, how many years? So you went to college for four years.
**Heather Copeland** (3:41)
Yes.
**Christy Young** (3:41)
And then you went to get your master's degree, just so we can make it clear for others who might feel like they have invested in a degree. You went to two more years to get your master's degree. Okay.
