Deepening Desire for the Lord Part 2

Well, praise God, we're going to continue in our series, Deepening Our Desire for the Lord.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:38)
Come on. You know, it's been taught for years in the church that what would hasten or provoke the coming or the return of the Lord is destruction, devastation, depravity, wickedness, sin, rampant sin.
And some would say, well, my goodness, with all the bloodshed in the earth, and the famine, and the perversion, and I mean, abortion, and all kinds of things, surely Christ would have returned or is coming soon based on all the depravity and wickedness.

But we look at the pattern, that when we see such depravity and wickedness, what came was judgment upon those nations. What came to Israel in all their idolatry and turning from God was enslavement to Egypt, Babylon, Assyria.

That led them into captivity.

**SPEAKER_3** (2:22)
It never provoked God's sending deliverance until they had had enough of that stuff.

**SPEAKER_6** (2:38)
And they cried out in desperation to return to God.

**SPEAKER_7** (2:48)
When they cried out and said, Lord, we've had enough of our own way.
We've had enough of the ways of the world. We've had enough.

**SPEAKER_4** (2:57)
Lord, we know we said, we want to live like the Assyrians.

**SPEAKER_8** (3:01)
We like how they're living.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:04)
Or the Babylonians.

**SPEAKER_7** (3:07)
Oh Lord, we've had enough of that. Lord, we desire to return to Your way.

**SPEAKER_6** (3:16)
And so, they cried out from Egypt, and the scripture says, God heard their cry, and He sent a deliverer.

**SPEAKER_9** (3:27)
And we see that pattern time and time again.

**SPEAKER_8** (3:33)
But in Jesus' day, if you really look at the scripture, Paul and the other apostles do not teach this idea that what will hasten the return of the Lord is this great depravity, but a great desire by His bride, longing for Him.

Amen.

**SPEAKER_6** (4:10)
God is waiting for us, His bride, to have such a deep desire for nothing else but Him.

**SPEAKER_11** (4:33)
You ever heard the phrase, Katoon Olam means the healing of the world?

**SPEAKER_9** (4:43)
And it has nothing to do with man trying to fix everything.

**SPEAKER_4** (4:52)
In fact, there's been a few presidents have used this phrase, Katoon Olam, to say that our political agenda is going to fix the world. Our agenda will fix the environment.

Our political agenda will fix the social eels of culture.

**SPEAKER_6** (5:20)
To know long, in its root, its essence, has to do with us longing for the ways of righteousness. For us longing for the ways of the Lord.

**SPEAKER_8** (5:39)
That we've fed up with our own way, and we've had enough of the world's way.

**SPEAKER_4** (5:45)
And we've seen that with generations.

**SPEAKER_5** (5:47)
We see back in the, remember during the hippie movement, and all that, you look back, and all the professors told that generation, hey, if you smoke more dope, and you do this, and you just, you know, know sexual boundaries whatsoever, man, you'll know real life.

**SPEAKER_3** (6:05)
And so many of them discovered it was a lie.

**SPEAKER_9** (6:10)
And they longed for something that was truth.

**SPEAKER_6** (6:16)
Guess what, I believe we're seeing it again today.

**SPEAKER_10** (6:20)
This new wave of sexual revolution and everything else, and now generations are discovering I was lied to.

**SPEAKER_4** (6:31)
I still, I had all the surgeries, I was made up, cut up, drugged up, everything else.

**SPEAKER_12** (6:39)
And yet, I was still left empty on the inside.

**SPEAKER_6** (6:47)
And they're discovering I had enough of what the world says brings hope and life and joy and peace. I want something that's truth.

**SPEAKER_10** (7:02)
Amen.

And so that's where God is calling us to this deeper desire for Him.

This morning, I want to talk about restoring faith in something that we have lost, that is detrimental to society, to family, to the church.

**SPEAKER_9** (7:33)
And it's critical that we restore this through the Word of God. God wants to restore faith in fathering.

**SPEAKER_8** (7:47)

What do desire for God and fathering have in common?

**SPEAKER_10** (7:58)
I'm glad you asked.

**SPEAKER_4** (8:02)
So many generations of people today, even if they had a father, biological or spiritual, so many have been left with a bitter taste in their souls for fatherhood all together. I'm telling you, so many issues that we face in our culture today go back to father issues.
