We are starting a new series, Deepening Our Desire for the Lord. And we're going to talk about this morning, our greatest inheritance. Amen? So one of the things that we talked about this weekend was being the light of the world, and what is the light? And who was Jesus? Right? And a lot of people today will tell you, Jesus didn't even exist. That's a lie. I mean, you got to go... You got to really have faith to believe that lie, right? Because there's so much evidence. Archaeologically, historically, in literature, I mean, there's so much evidence, right? And we learned that the Bible is the most trustworthy, historical document, the only document of real truth. I mean, it is the standard of science of everything. Amen?
So, if you can't trust the Bible, you can't trust anything else.
And the Bible tells us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word was with God, and the Word became flesh. So, who is Jesus? He was more than a teacher, more than a rabbi, he was more than a philosopher. Come on, and there's all kinds of foolishness that's being propagated today, trying to redefine Jesus. But we know who Jesus was. Jesus was from the beginning. Right? Before anything was created, there was total darkness.
And the earth was out without form and void, and there was total darkness, and then all of a sudden, there was light. There it is. There was light. And that light was the light of the world. Right? Now, God's not like the sun. The sun's like a planet on fire, right? Eh, Woody's raising one eyebrow. That's my best analogy, Pastor Woody. It's just like a ball of gas or something, right? But God's not, because one of the kids said, what, is God like the sun? No, He's not the light like the sun, because the sun He created.
And we know, we can trust that the sun is going to come up and go down every day. But how many of you know the sun doesn't go up and down?
It doesn't go sideways. It stays in one place. It is reflective or represents the goodness of God, that it is always faithful. It's always firm. It never moves. Right? But how do we get night time? Can God hide the sun? Sure, He made a way that the sun hides. Actually, we hide from the sun. Oh, there's a prophetic revelation. We hide from the sun. And when we are hidden from the sun, we are in...
Did y'all get that? When we are hidden from the sun, we're in darkness.
But God created the light.
And then, He created, eventually, He created everything else, but then He created us, and He put something in us. When He breathed into man, how do you start a fire? If you're building a campfire, well, you gotta use wood, and you gotta use...
**SPEAKER_3** (4:36)
Right?
**SPEAKER_2** (4:36)
And I said, well, those are things that we use to facilitate the fire and keep it burning. But a fire has to start with a what?
**SPEAKER_3** (4:43)
A spark.
**SPEAKER_2** (4:44)
Say it again.
God breathed into you and put a spark.
You know what that spark was? His love. His love, his love, his light. And his love, and it grew, and, and come on. But man began to hate darkness. They got from God. They sinned. And you know what sin is? Sin is when you hide your light. When you disobey God, look at your light.
That's sin. But God made a way that we could repent. And when you repent, your light can shine again. Amen? Praise God. But men, the Bible says, there were men who hated the light. And they loved darkness more than the light. So God had to sin. In fact, the world became dark again. And the enemy tries to put your light out.
Christ came, and he began to share that love again. And eventually, that love grew and grew. And those men who hated the light tried to put out the light. And so they nailed him to a cross. And they tried to snuff out that light. But they couldn't. Amen. They couldn't. And the cross shined like that light with the love of God for us. Amen.
That's interesting that Christ came and brought back to life that light inside of you, didn't he, Julia? Look at there. It shines in her eyes. Look at that. The light, the love of God. And it's interesting that Christ is that light of God. Amen.
