Pouncey, so we came in, we graduated school early, bro. What was one of your best memories of when we first got to school? Me, you, Amar, Paul, all of the boys, when we graduated from high school and got to Florida.
Maurkice Pouncey (0:13)
Yeah, we went there, I'll never ever forget it. We went in, wow, with a storm. No matter what older guy was there, all of us came from a high school championship team, so we challenged everything. But man, our first week or two there, the team, because we all came in early, they went out to Scottsdale and played Ohio State.
I remember being on them scooters. You remember all us bought the most scooters.
To see that, everyone run outside the O'Connor Center, and for them to party and hang on the poles, and I'm just sitting back like, boy, I cannot wait for this to be us. Come on. I know we're going to do this, 100 percent. It is just the trickle down effect, just seeing the atmosphere, because at the time, I don't know if Joe remembers this, but they had a program set where they were trying to bring more minority people to UF. We was a part of that whole thing where they brought in, not just Black people, but Asians, every single different culture to try to bring more color and flavor to the University of Florida. So our era, where we had the number one party school right at two years in a row. So for us, it was an unbelievable time. Every single day, and I can guarantee you, if you want to party every single day, Joe Haden will go meet you.
Joe Haden (1:17)
I'll show you, I'll be the one thing I tell you, but I knew where to be. I knew where to be.
Maurkice Pouncey (1:22)
Joe was the number one partier in all of UF history, man.
James Harrison (1:26)
And how you gonna put him over me?
Maurkice Pouncey (1:29)
I love Miss Hayden, man. I ain't gonna lie to you.
Joe Haden (1:31)
This one I'm gonna tell you, though, because me and Pounce, and when he says this, bro, we was grinding. We was working so hard.
SPEAKER_4 (1:38)
I bet you was grinding.
Joe Haden (1:40)
No, no, you said, that's a joke. Don't disrespect.
SPEAKER_4 (1:45)
Don't disrespect.
Joe Haden (1:47)
Listen, Coach Haden had us a Saturday night, midnight lift. We couldn't even go to the, we couldn't even go to the Shemanes.
Maurkice Pouncey (1:55)
Joe partied so much that he would have to come in there and clean the weight room earlier in the morning and then come do his workout in the afternoon. You remember that joke? You'd be in there working out, Joe in there wiping down weights. I'm like, oh, this is wild.
Joe Haden (2:10)
I got in trouble, got in trouble.
Maurkice Pouncey (2:11)
Had to get me a little early.
Joe Haden (2:14)
Thank you, Pouncey.
James Harrison (2:15)
Thank you, Pouncey. Man, listen, man, good and terrible. Look here, man, we're going to be playing Joe's old team, them Browns. But you got to tell me, like, how would you deal with this situation? So Platt Friar moved. He added something that happened to his, you know what?
Just play it right there for it. Let him see it. Let me see. Let him hear this.
SPEAKER_5 (2:38)
No, Cleveland fans threw beer at my mother after my rookie year after I showed at touchdown.
SPEAKER_6 (2:42)
So I'm a lock me up.
Maurkice Pouncey (2:44)
It's all good. Hey, so it's all for the sports and all for the love of the game.
James Harrison (2:47)
My mom enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_5 (2:48)
So it was all good.
James Harrison (2:50)
No hard feelings.
SPEAKER_6 (2:50)
But yeah, that's what we're not going to do. That's what we're not going to do.
Joe Haden (2:53)
I'm not signing. She doesn't go. She doesn't go.
James Harrison (2:59)
Listen, man, I'm going to tell you, I tell you, I tell my people to not go to away games. We don't have to go to away games. Do not go to away games. Don't do it because if something go happen, because something go, I got to get bail money. I'm locked up. Everything going bad. Because now I can't even think about nothing else, man. Look, man, I was at my people was in was in Ohio, man. They was watching the Steelers game. And it's some it's some paperwork out there.
But, you know, some people got disrespectful. You know, they got reckless, probably with their mouth and was talking something crazy. And, you know, I get a call after the game, hey, your family, they done locked up some people because they didn't put some hands on.
