Coming up on Nothing Major, yes, Nothing Major is back. It's the post US Open Blues, but we're going to talk about it. We got a lot of Davis Cup to discuss. Let's get this show started.
Sam Querrey (0:11)
Jack Jones, Stevie and Sam got close a few times, never won a slam, Nothing Major.
John Isner (0:17)
Welcome back to Nothing Major. Bit of a hiatus for us, guys. The longest one we've had in two plus years.
Sam Querrey (0:25)
Well-deserved hiatus. Well-deserved.
John Isner (0:27)
This is hard work what we do.
Put our bodies through the wringer for our fans across the world. But I appreciate that. John Isner here, Stevie Johnson, Sam Querrey and the team at SIFT Creative. It's as mentioned, US Open is done. The tennis calendar, tennis schedule does not stop. As we all know, we're going to dive into that today. But before, let's banter a little bit. The three of us in about a few weeks time, we're actually going to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to do an event for First Serve New Mexico. It's not really why, but what I wanted to talk about is, we're doing a ranch day out there, and there's a list of activities we could do.
And one of the, on the list is horseback riding. And they said there's a weight limit, like you gotta be 225 pounds or less, so that immediately eliminates me. I cannot horseback ride, much to y'all's chagrin. But Stevie and I were asking, Sam said he hadn't been on a scale in two years, which I thought, you don't have a scale at your house?
Sam Querrey (1:28)
I do, there's no reason to get on the scale. I rarely weighed myself when I played.
Steve Johnson (1:33)
That's true, I couldn't vouch for Sam on that one.
Sam Querrey (1:35)
It's not weird, if you feel good, what difference does it make what you weigh?
John Isner (1:37)
I don't even think, why would you, the scale's sitting there in your bathroom, like hop on it, like just to.
Sam Querrey (1:42)
No, if you know you're not gonna feel good about yourself, why hop on it?
Steve Johnson (1:44)
Yeah, that's true. I'm with Sam on this one.
John Isner (1:47)
Okay, so what's the verdict?
SPEAKER_4 (1:48)
You did hop on the scale.
Sam Querrey (1:49)
Well, right away, you're like, there's no way you can ride the horse. I was like, you questioned it. I guess you questioned it.
Steve Johnson (1:56)
No, I didn't.
John Isner (1:57)
I just simply asked.
Steve Johnson (1:58)
No scale.
SPEAKER_4 (1:59)
Because in my mind, you're like a little like, you're like skinny fat.
John Isner (2:07)
You haven't put on weight. I don't think so. So I'm just curious as to what you weigh.
Sam Querrey (2:12)
So anyway, I got on the scale for the first time, 228.5.
John Isner (2:17)
That's good weight.
Sam Querrey (2:18)
Yeah, so I need to lose three and a half pounds. I'm going to take everyone on this journey with me so I can horseback ride mid October.
John Isner (2:25)
What a journey, Sam.
Sam Querrey (2:26)
What a journey. Three pounds, three and a half. And I should probably lose more like four and a half just for the safety of the horse. I don't want to like really push it at 225 I'd love to get to like 223
John Isner (2:37)
I personally think that's a good weight for your height.
But yeah, I think you should just eschew the horseback riding and try to get to 230 That's what I would do.
Steve Johnson (2:46)
No, no, I don't want to go horseback riding by myself.
Sam Querrey (2:50)
Yeah, you just called me skinny fat. I'd rather just be skinny, lean and trim.
SPEAKER_4 (2:55)
No, get like, that'll never.
Sam Querrey (2:57)
I don't have the discipline to go to the gym like you.
Steve Johnson (2:58)
That'll never happen. You don't have that.
John Isner (3:00)
I'm just, okay, well, I'm tipping the scales on almost 260
Sam Querrey (3:03)
I'll check in every, every Monday, I'll check in 228.5.
Steve Johnson (3:07)
What's the plan?
John Isner (3:08)
Do you have a plan?
Sam Querrey (3:09)
No, just probably skip breakfast for the next 25 days.
Steve Johnson (3:12)
Yeah.
Sam Querrey (3:16)
And then the day before horseback riding, put a trash bag on and go run a mile in the heat.
Steve Johnson (3:20)
Sit in the sauna.
Yeah, basically. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sam Querrey (3:24)
I'm gonna bring everyone on this journey with me over the next four weeks.
