Forget Me Not

June 8, 2026

Is there a part of your life where you have been hiding your gifts, kindness, or faith out of fear or discouragement?
**SPEAKER_2** (0:46)
Thank you. A reading from the Holy Gospel, according to Matthew.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:53)
You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand. And it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:34)
The Gospel of the Lord.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket. It is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father.
There are moments when we feel small, unnoticed or uncertain if what we do even matters. Yet, Jesus reminds us that even a simple light can change the atmosphere of a whole room. A kind word, patience with someone difficult, honesty when nobody is watching, helping without expecting praise, these things carry light. Many people think shining means doing something big or impressive. But Jesus spoke about everyday good deeds, the kind that reflect love, mercy and sincerity. Sometimes, the brightest witness comes from how we treat others when life is tiring or unfair. We also hide our light at times. Fear of judgment, fear of failure, or thinking we are not good enough can make us hold back. But God did not create us to live buried under insecurity or comparison. He calls us to live openly with faith and kindness so others may encounter him through the way we live. Not everyone will notice, not everyone will understand. Still, the light matters. A lamp does not struggle to become visible. It simply shines because it was lit. Is there a part of your life where you have been hiding your gifts, kindness or faith out of fear or discouragement?
Lord, help me to live in a way that reflects Your goodness. Teach me to bring hope, kindness and honesty into the lives of others. When fear or doubt causes me to hide, remind me that the light comes from You. May my actions point others toward Your love each day. Amen.

Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.
The third day, He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

**SPEAKER_1** (5:38)
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (5:49)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
