A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:52)
I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.
The Jews, therefore, contended with one another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
Jesus, therefore, said to them, Most certainly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you don't have life in yourselves. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day, for my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.
This is the bread which came down out of heaven. Not as our fathers ate the manna and died, he who eats this bread will live forever.

The Gospel of the Lord says in the Bible that the bread which came down out of heaven will live forever. Jesus said to the Jewish crowds, I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. The Jews quarreled among themselves saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? The people listening to Jesus were confused when he spoke about giving his flesh as bread. They were thinking only in a human way, trying to understand everything with logic alone. Yet Jesus was pointing them toward something far deeper. He was speaking about giving himself completely for us. Many of us spend our days feeding on things that never truly satisfy. Success, distractions, entertainment, approval from others. They may feel a moment, but not the emptiness inside the heart. Jesus reminds us that real life comes from him.
Every time we receive him, trust him, or spend time with him, we are not just following a religion. We are receiving strength for the journey ahead. His presence carried us through fears, disappointments, loneliness, and uncertainty.
Jesus did not come to stay distant from us. He came close enough to become nourishment for our lives. That is how much he loves us. What have I been relying on lately to fill my heart besides Jesus?
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving yourself so freely for us. Teach me to seek you above temporary things that cannot satisfy.
Fill my heart with trust, faith and a deeper desire to remain close to you each day. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day, he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.
From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
