June 26, 2026, Friday of the 12th week in Ordinary Time. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:52)
When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean.
Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I want to be made clean. Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Jesus said to him, See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded as they testimony to them.

The Gospel of the Lord When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And then a leper approached, did him homage and said, Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean. He stretched out his hand and touched him and said, I will do it, be made clean. His leprosy was cleansed immediately.
The leper in today's Gospel approached Jesus with humility and trust.
He did not demand healing or insist on getting his way. Instead, he simply said, Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.
There is something beautiful about that prayer. The man believed Jesus had the power to heal him. The only question was whether it was God's will. What happened next would have surprised many people. Lepers were often feared and excluded from society. Most people would keep their distance. Yet Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. Before the healing even took place, the touch itself spoke volumes. It showed acceptance, compassion and love. Jesus saw not just a disease, but a person. Many of us carry wounds that are not visible. We may struggle with guilt, disappointment, loneliness or burdens that we keep hidden from others.
Like the leper, we can bring them to Jesus honestly, and place them in His hands. Sometimes, the answer comes quickly. Other times, it takes longer than we would like. Yet, we can trust that Jesus never turns away from those who seek Him. He knows our needs, our fears and our hopes. His words to the leper remain a source of encouragement today. I will do it. Be made clean. What burden, weakness or hurt do I need to place before Jesus today? Trusting that He sees me with compassion and love? Lord Jesus, thank You for Your mercy and compassion. Help me to come before You with trust, just as the leper did.
Touch the areas of my life that need healing, forgiveness and renewal. Teach me to trust in Your will and to remember that I'm never beyond Your love. Amen.

The third day, he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
