Forget Me Not

June 25, 2025

The question is not whether we're amazed, like the crowds were but whether we are ready to follow. What part of Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount speaks to your heart today? Is there one command or encouragement that feels especially personal?
**SPEAKER_2** (0:54)
June 26, 2025, Thursday of the 12th week in Ordinary Time. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:12)
Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father who is in heaven. Many will tell me in that day, Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name? In your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works? Then I will tell them, I never knew you, depart from me, you who work iniquity. Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house, and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall. When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:39)
The Gospel of the Lord When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes. At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, the crowds were left in awe, not merely because Jesus spoke well, but because he spoke with real authority. This wasn't borrowed insight, or second-hand tradition. His words pierced hearts. They reached deep and left people quietly stunned. Jesus didn't just tell people how to live. He revealed who God is. He called us to a radical love, a mercy that goes further, a forgiveness that doesn't wait to be earned. And all of it came not with fear, but with gentleness and certainty, as if heaven itself was speaking plainly to earth. If we ever feel lost or unsure of how to live out our faith, these chapters, Matthew 5-7, gives us a steady compass. They are not rules to check off, but a way of life anchored in love, humility and trust in the Father who sees in secret. The question is not whether we are amazed, like the crowds were, but whether we are ready to follow. What part of Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount speaks to your heart today? Is there one command or encouragement that feels especially personal? Lord Jesus, Your words are like no other. They guide, challenge and comfort me all at once. Help me to listen not only with my ears, but with my heart. Give me the grace to follow You, not from obligation, but out of love. Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (5:42)
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

**SPEAKER_1** (5:45)
Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (5:46)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day, he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

**SPEAKER_1** (6:18)
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (6:28)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

**SPEAKER_1** (6:37)
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (6:50)
