Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father who is in heaven. Many will tell me in that day, Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works? Then I will tell them, I never knew you, depart from me, you who work iniquity. Everyone, therefore, who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock.
Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them with authority and not like the scribes.

The Gospel of the Lord Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name? Then I will declare to them solemnly, I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers. Jesus gives a sobering warning in today's Gospel. It is possible to speak its name, appear religious, and even do impressive things, yet still be far from him.
The people in this passage were confident about their standing before God. They pointed to their achievements and what they had done in his name. Yet, Jesus' response was not about their actions. He said, I never knew you. At the heart of the Gospel is relationship. God is not looking for people who simply know about him. He desires people who know him, trust him, and seek to follow his will. Many of us may never preach to crowds or perform great deeds, but we face a simpler question every day. Are we allowing God to shape our choices, our words, and the way we treat others? Faith is not measured by how often we speak about God, but by whether our lives reflect his love.
Following Christ is not about building a list of accomplishments to present before him. It is about walking with him, listening to him, and letting him lead us even in the ordinary moments of life.
If Jesus looked at my life today, would he see a genuine relationship with him, or only religious activity and good intentions? Lord Jesus, help me to seek you with a sincere heart. Teach me not only to speak about faith, but to live it each day. Draw me closer to you, and guide me to do the will of the Father in all that I do.

The third day, He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there, He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
