Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your father who is in heaven. Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don't sound the trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does, so that your merciful deeds may be in secret. Then your father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly. When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men.
Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your father, who is in secret, and your father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly.
Moreover, when you fast, don't be like the hypocrites, with sad faces, for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your father, who is in secret, and your father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

The Gospel of the Lord The Gospel of the Lord Jesus said to his disciples, Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them, otherwise you will have no recompense from your heavenly father.
Jesus reminds us that even good deeds can lose their meaning when they become a performance. It is easy to help, serve or give while secretly hoping someone will praise us, thank us or notice our efforts. Yet, God looks beyond actions and sees the intention behind them.
Some of the most meaningful acts of love are the ones nobody sees. A silent prayer for someone struggling, a kind message sent at the right moment, choosing patience when nobody would blame us for reacting badly.
These moments may never be recognized by the world, but they are never hidden from God. Living for approval from others can leave us exhausted because human attention fades quickly. But when we live for God, there is freedom. We no longer need to prove ourselves through appearances or seek validation through every good thing we do. Jesus invites us to live with sincerity, not performance. Faith is not about looking holy. It is about allowing our hearts to grow closer to God in the ordinary moments of daily life. Do we sometimes seek recognition more than sincerity when doing good for others? Lord, help us to live with honest hearts. Teach us to do good out of love and not for attention or praise. Remind us that you see every hidden act of kindness and every sincere effort. May our faith be rooted in You and not in the approval of others. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.
The third day, He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there, He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
