Daily Gospel Reflections for Jul 28, 2026

Explain to us the parable of the darnelweeds of the field. He answered them, He who sows the good seed is the son of man, the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the children of the kingdom, and the darnelweeds are the children of the evil one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.
As, therefore, the darnelweeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of this age. The son of man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and those who do iniquity, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their father.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:34)
The Gospel of the Lord. Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field. The disciples did not pretend, they understood everything Jesus had said. After the crowds had left, they came to him and asked for an explanation. They wanted to know the truth and they trusted that Jesus would teach them.
There is something refreshing about their honesty. They were willing to admit they did not understand. Instead of making their own conclusions, they turned to the one who could give them clarity. We face moments like this too. There are times when God's plans, his timing, or even the words of Scripture seem difficult to understand. It is easy to rely on our own opinions or to give up searching. Yet, Jesus welcomes those who sincerely seek him. He is not distant from those who ask with an open heart. Growing in faith is not about having every answer. It is about remaining willing to learn. Each time we read his word, pray, or seek his guidance, we are drawing closer to the one who knows far more than we do.

Lord Jesus, thank you for welcoming those who seek you. Give us humble hearts that are willing to learn and trust you. When we do not understand, help us to come to you with honesty and faith, believing that you will lead us in your truth. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
