He entered into a boat and crossed over and came into his own city.
Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Son, cheer up, your sins are forgiven you.
Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, This man blasphemes. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier to say, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, get up and walk, but that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. Then he said to the paralytic, Get up and take up your mat and go to your house. He arose and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

The Gospel of the Lord After entering a boat, Jesus made the crossing and came into his own town. And there, people brought to him a paralytic, lying on the stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Courage, child, your sins are forgiven. The people who carried the paralytic to Jesus were hoping for healing. They saw a physical need and brought their friend to the only one who could help. Yet, Jesus' first words were unexpected. Courage, child, your sins are forgiven. Before addressing the man's physical condition, Jesus spoke to the deeper need of his heart. He saw more than the stretcher. He saw the person. He saw his pain, his fears, and his need for forgiveness. This passage reminds us that Jesus always sees the whole picture. We often focus on the problems we want him to fix, but he knows what we truly need. Sometimes, his work begins in places that others cannot see.
It is also worth noticing that Jesus responded to the faith of those who brought the man to him. Their love, persistence, and trust mattered. There are moments when our prayers, encouragement, and support can help carry someone closer to Christ. Whether we are the one being carried, or the one carrying another, Jesus sees faith that refuses to give up.
Is there an area of my life where I'm focused only on the outcome I want, while Jesus may be inviting me to trust Him with something deeper?
Lord Jesus, thank You for seeing beyond my struggles and understanding what I truly need. Give me courage to trust Your care, even when Your answers are different from my expectations.
Help me bring others closer to You through faith, prayer, and love.

The third day, he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
