Come to me, all you who labor, and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The Gospel of the Lord. Jesus said, Come to me, all you who labor, and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for yourselves, for my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
There are seasons when life feels heavy, responsibilities pull up, worries linger in our minds. We keep moving forward, yet the weight does not seem to get any lighter. In today's Gospel, Jesus does not begin with a command. He begins with an invitation. Come to me. He knows the burdens we carry. He sees the struggles that others may never notice. Instead of asking us to become stronger on our own, he invites us to walk with him.
When Jesus speaks about taking his yoke, he is not offering a life without challenges. Rather, he is offering his presence in the midst of them. A yoke joins two together. Christ does not leave us to pull life's load by ourselves. He walks beside us, guiding and strengthening us each step of the way.
His humility is also part of the lesson. The world often tells us to rely only on ourselves. Jesus teaches a different path. There is freedom in trusting God, admitting our limitations and allowing. Him to carry what we cannot. The burden becomes lighter not because life changes overnight, but because we no longer bear it alone. What burden have I been carrying by myself that Jesus is inviting me to place in. His hands today?
Lord Jesus, you know the weight that I carry and the worries that fill my heart. Help me to come to. You with trust and honesty. Teach me to walk with. You each day and to rely on. Your strength instead of my own. When I feel tired or overwhelmed, remind me that. You are beside me. Amen.
