We will be back with a new episode on July 11, 2026, Memorial of St. Benedict, Abbott. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he'd be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house, Beelzebub, how much more those of his household? Therefore, don't be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops. Don't be afraid of those who killed the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Aren't two sparrows sold for an Assyrian coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your father's will.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore, don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. Everyone, therefore, who confesses me before men, I will also confess him before my father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny him before my father who is in heaven.
**SPEAKER_2** (2:18)
The Gospel of the Lord Jesus said to his apostles, No disciple is above his teacher, No slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, For the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, How much more those of his household? Jesus reminds his apostles that a disciple is not greater than the one he follows. If Jesus himself was misunderstood, criticized and rejected by some people, his followers should not be surprised when they experience the same. Many of us hope that living faithfully will make life easier. Yet, Jesus never promised an easy road. Instead, he invited us to become like him. That means, learning his ways, reflecting his character, and remaining faithful even when others do not understand us.
The goal of discipleship is not comfort or recognition. The goal is to grow closer to Christ and allow his life to shape ours. When we choose forgiveness instead of resentment, humility instead of pride, and love instead of bitterness, we become more like our teacher.
Following Jesus is not about avoiding difficulties. It is about trusting him enough to keep walking with him through them.
In what areas of my life is Jesus inviting me to become more like him, even when it may be difficult or misunderstood by others? Lord Jesus, thank you for being our teacher and guide. Help us to follow your example each day. Give us the strength to remain faithful when challenges arise, and the grace to reflect your love, humility and truth in all that we do. May our lives grow to resemble yours more and more. Amen.

**SPEAKER_4** (5:48)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day, he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there, he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
**SPEAKER_1** (6:19)
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
