Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it. And whoever will lose his life, for my sake, will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will it The be? Gospel of the Lord. Jesus said to his disciples, I will give you my life, and I will give you my life. And they said, I will give you my life, and I will give you my life. And they said, I will give you my life, and I will give you my life. And they said, I will give you my life.

The Gospel of the Lord. Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wishes to come after me, must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life, will lose it. But whoever loses his life for my sake, will find it.
Jesus never promised that following him would remove every struggle. Instead, he invited us to carry our cross. That cross looks different for each of us. It may be for giving someone who hurt us, choosing honesty when it costs us, caring for a loved one, or remaining faithful when life does not go as we hoped. Our natural instinct is to protect our own comfort, plans and desires. Yet Jesus teaches that real life is found in surrendering them to him. When we place him first, we begin to discover a deeper purpose that cannot be found by living only for ourselves. Taking up our cross is not about looking for suffering. It is about saying yes to Christ each day, even when that choice requires sacrifice. Every act of love, obedience and trust becomes another step in following him.
The road may not always be easy but we never walk it alone. Jesus has already walked that path before us and he continues to lead us with his love. What is one cross that Jesus is asking me to carry today instead of avoiding or putting aside?
Lord Jesus, help me to follow you with willing hearts. Give us the strength to carry the cross you have entrusted to us each day. Teach us to place your will above our own and to trust that true life is found in walking with you. May our choices reflect our love for you and bring hope to those around us. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
