You're listening to the Six Figure Home Studio Podcast. The number one resource for running a profitable home recording studio.

So welcome back to the podcast. I'm glad you joined us. It's the day after Christmas, and I'm probably feeling a bit fatter than normal. I don't know about you, but I probably ate some regrettable things. I probably had too much sugar. I'm probably needing to loosen my belt a bit.
But I'm talking about this in past tense, but this is future tense because right now it's not even Christmas yet at the time that I record this. But I know myself well enough to make those assumptions. Today's episode is about a piece of software that will make you more money if you use it. Now that sounds scammy. That sounds like clickbait buzzfeed bullshit. But what I mean is true. If you are already doing this, part-time or full-time, first of all, and you're already making money from this, second of all, then implementing this sort of software into your business will make you more money.
I don't know of any other way to say that. This is not pumping it up, but it is true. This is something that Chris and I both use, and Chris and I both cannot live without, and Chris and I would both make less money if we did not use. My assistant uses it for his studio. All of my students that I've taught, we use it in their studios. And it's because they understand how crucial this is for maintaining relationships, for staying top of mind, for making sure leads do not slip through the cracks, that you're not losing money. Honestly, and I pay for an expensive one, but even the free ones are just as effective. If you are not using this software in your business, you are losing money, period. So without belaboring this point, without pumping this magical software up anymore, here is my conversation with Chris Graham.
So welcome back to the 6 Figure Home Studio podcast. Today's topic is one that was actually recently mentioned in the 6 Figure Home Studio community, which if you're not a part of that, you should go check that out on Facebook and join it, because it's a whole community full of like minded individuals that are all striving towards the same goal of doing a profitable home recording studio.
So, let's pitch over for the community there, but the topic is, customer relationship management software. Now, what the hell is that? Why are we talking about that, Chris? It sounds so nerdy and advanced, but is it really?
Chris Graham (2:29)
Well, you know, initially, if I had been listening to this episode like a year ago, I would have heard that and been like, boring, next. But thanks to you, sir, I use customer relationship management software now, and it's been life-changing.
Brian Hood (2:46)
I'm kind of like an evangelist for CRMs.
Chris Graham (2:49)
This is true.
Brian Hood (2:49)
You've heard the good word of the CRM, and you've converted to the religion that is the CRM, and now you're also an advocate or a disciple of the customer relationship management software religion, if you will.
Let's just talk about what level do you need to be at as a home studio owner before you need to consider a CRM, because it's not gonna be for everybody, but I still think that the bar is probably lower than you think. What do you think?
Chris Graham (3:14)
Well, I would say the more customers or leads that you're dealing with in a month, the more valuable the software is.
And just to sort of sum up what is customer relationship management software, it's exactly what it sounds like. It's software that helps you manage your relationship with leads and customers. And the big thing there that we're notorious for as a community of audio engineers is that we're not very personable, most of us anyways. And if you guys are wondering if there's a new co-host today, no, I just have a cold, and my voice is like 14 octaves lower than normal. Barbecue sauce.
Anyways, customer management software basically helps you be a grownup. It says, hey, it's time to follow up with so and so, or hey, you never heard back from such and such person about such and such project. And for me, the most important thing for me as a business owner is my relationships with my customers. Am I available? Am I following up with them? Am I being friendly? And I'm a moron, and I forget to follow up with people all the time.
