Jim Cramer here to share with you a sample of my take on the market from today's CNBC Investing Club morning meeting.
We do have news. The Supreme Court has upheld the ban of TikTok. I know that President-elect Trump has just spoken to Xi Jinping. Now it's very interesting that they have a dialogue. When I interviewed the president, he thought we might be surprised by his relations with China. This has to be resolved because TikTok is 100 million people or more in America who would be angry at the same time if they get the data of 100 million people, then it would be something that we would not want as a country. So I come back and say, I think this gets kicked at Trump and Trump will come up with some sort of deal and as long as they can keep the data from the Chinese. I got to tell you, Chief Justice Roberts does not think you can.
Jeff Marks (1:54)
Well, in the event it does go dark and stays dark. Meta, obviously, the big winner there. You could say Alphabet as well with YouTube shorts. Interesting that it kind of flattish here.
Jim Cramer (2:08)
This is so wrong. I mean, give me a break.
Jeff Marks (2:10)
You think it would be higher, but I think it's been pointing towards this direction for a couple of weeks.
Jim Cramer (2:16)
Right, but the fact is that they do have a competitive product that everyone could gravitate to. And the idea that this thing is sui generis and really incredibly important, no, Zuckerberg will crack this code too. So I think that that stock's a big buy.
Jeff Marks (2:33)
Just stepping back, it is a strong day for the markets, a strong day for technology stocks. The NASDAQ, you had some upgrades in the semi-cap equipment companies.
Jim Cramer (2:42)
And we have a lot of upgrades that deeply affect us as a portfolio measure.
Jeff Marks (2:46)
Yep. You have the 10-year yield, pretty steady, was lower earlier, but there was some decent, pretty good economic data. Why don't we jump into, well, we start with Apple. So yesterday, a tough day for the stock, had its worst day since August, falling 4%.
Jim Cramer (2:59)
Remember, we're not a believer that this quarter is going to be that good, but this is all related to this big spike that we shouldn't have had.
Jeff Marks (3:08)
Yeah. Well, Evercore, so they're actually taking advantage, so to speak, of some of the negative sentiment around Apple, put a tactical outperform on the stock, basically saying they expect an inline quarter, while the March guide may be weak, sentiment is so low that maybe it can work after that.
Jim Cramer (3:24)
They are point blank saying that, without using these words, but they're saying that the cycle is over, that it's just like, we're not going to ever get once again, this, okay, the 16 comes out, is it good? The 17 comes out, is it good? They're saying it's longer, every cycle will be longer, which implies that it's not episodic. If it's not episodic, then we're going to lean on the service revenues, which are gigantic and still growing.
Jeff Marks (3:50)
Yeah, the point of that service strength is, and we said yesterday, you know, we made a trim the day after Christmas. It got too big. It actually coincidentally was the high in the stock. So after we right-sized the position, I don't really need to see the take, I need to take more action here.
