Jim Cramer (0:48)
Hey, it's Cramer, and this is my morning take on the market from today's CNBC Investing Club Morning Meeting.
We've got quite a day going here. Markets are higher even as we have to worry about bonds because we do have three bond auctions this week. That had been in control. Suddenly, what's in control is the animal spirits that we're seeing once again with AI, with NVIDIA, which you know we're closely associated with, and even Palantir, which I talked about this weekend in a think piece this Sunday.
Jeff Marks (1:20)
Yeah, where did you come off on that? Because I know you were kind of saying, look, do you just break all investment discipline and do you buy a stock like Palantir under the expectation of it going higher? You kind of used it versus, say, like Stanley Black and Decker, or maybe Constellation Brands.
Jim Cramer (1:39)
I'm glad you bring it up, because I was going back and forth with my writing partner, Matt Horween, about what do we do as people who run a travel trust in order to be able to say to people, look, we know certain stocks are going up. I think Tesla's going up. I think Palantir's going up.
And by the way, I think that Bitcoin's going up. But do any of them fit our parameters in the trust? And I think that we owe our club members the thinking, and that's why I did that piece, that I believe those are going up. But those are hedge fund stocks. And I don't think I can get the intellectual grounding that's needed about Palantir or Tesla to be able to say it should be in the fund. But I do like to tell people, look, these are going higher. And you need to, if you want a really speculative stock, go ahead, do it. Or, and if I say stock, I would buy Bitcoin using the ETF.
Jeff Marks (2:31)
Got it. I did bring up Consolation, Insanely, Black and Decker. Those are two I'd call them tariff stocks. We did have some mixed news, confusing news, I would say. Initially, there was relief in a lot of these stocks on a Washington Post story that said Trump plans to pare back some of its tariff policy, focusing instead on specific crucial imports. But then the president-elect took to Truth Social and said the story was wrong. Still though, you're having a nice move in Consolation today, which has been pretty disappointing. But under the idea that Mexican beer imports not crucial to national security, maybe they get exempt.
Jim Cramer (3:07)
No, and I think that one of the things, gotta be a little common sense school here, as opposed to say the FTC. The FTC, the last thing they did under Lincoln was file a suit that would have dramatically raised the price of liquor in this country. But because she was felt there was a concentration among distributors. That's the kind of wrong headed thinking that we get. The right kind of thinking we get is how to lower the price of beer. And they would lower the price of beer if there's no tariff. If you raise the price of beer, I think that that's something that people feel, particularly Hispanics, because this is a largely Hispanic brand. And there's no doubt about the Republican Party is making great inroads with Hispanics. I don't want to get too political here, but what a silly thing to go against a company that can't really make its beer in America.
Jeff Marks (3:51)
Yeah, and they'll report Friday before the...
