Jim Cramer (0:48)
Hey, it's Cramer, and this is my morning take on the market from today's CNBC Investing Club Morning Meeting. Let's tackle something that I think did a lot of misinterpretation. Eli Lilly's morning. Stock was up barely initially. Let's do a couple stipulations. People who have diabetes is hard for them to lose weight. Harder than a person who's just overweight without diabetes. So if you do a study which shows that those who have diabetes lost 10%.
And then you do a study which says that those who don't have diabetes lose 10%. It's entirely possible that this pill, this formulation is radically better for people who are obese. Because if it's really good for the people who definitely have diabetes too, it could be great for people who are just obese. So that's why the stock can continue to climb, because this pill is very meaningful.
Jeff Marks (1:43)
And this is the GLP-1 pill that we've seen now three phase three studies on. Today was important. It was a milestone, because now they're going to move into filing for approval.
Jim Cramer (1:57)
Yeah, it's going to be year-end. And obviously, the percentage of people who hate getting the shots is up to like 80% now. So that's why a lot of people get out.
Jeff Marks (2:07)
So three advantages on why you would take a once daily oral for, say, once weekly injection. Well, one is that it's easier to manufacture. That's the real bottleneck when it comes to the injectables. So you don't have to deal with that. It's easier to ship and store, because injectables have temperature requirements, and they need to be refrigerated. And then what you mentioned, needle anxiety. So it's just easier to administer.
Jim Cramer (2:37)
Yeah, I mean, I'm developing a drug, and the biggest problem is it's got to be kept cold. Okay? Well, no one wants a drug that has to be kept cold. Yet that's what has to be like. Well, the other thing, can I just explain? People have to understand, when you have a drug that you don't know whether it's good or not, man, I had a drug and it turned out to, it went bad. And I didn't know it. I kept taking it, and I got really...
Jeff Marks (3:02)
The medication went. It spoiled. It spoiled.
Jim Cramer (3:05)
Well, you know, I mean, hey, pills don't spoil.
Jeff Marks (3:08)
Right.
Jim Cramer (3:08)
And they don't hurt.
Jeff Marks (3:09)
They have a shelf life, yes.
Jim Cramer (3:10)
I mean, I think this...
Jeff Marks (3:11)
Shelf life, it's not going to be...
Josh Brown (3:12)
Right.
Jim Cramer (3:12)
I think this thing, Repatha, it's really expensive, and it lowers your cholesterol. It's really terrific. It's an Amgen drug.
Josh Brown (3:18)
It hurts.
Jim Cramer (3:20)
