Police arrested Courtney Clenney on August 10th of 22 A judge sentenced her on August 10th of 26, four years to the day. And every single one of those days counts against her sentence. I'm glad this one is done. And it was not, it was not ended in a way that I think was, I don't know, applicable, fair, just to the crime. But we're going to tell you what happened here. The number is six years for manslaughter with a deadly weapon. Take away the force she's already served and she owes two. And Florida, gain time will serve or shave those down even further. So basically, Courtney Clenney has gotten away with murder. She's been facing life on the original charge, second degree murder. Christian Obumseli was 27 when she killed him. The state of Florida settled the rest of her life for roughly two more years of hers. All right.

Her story to detectives came down to one throw. She said Christian came to her and she grabbed a kitchen knife and warned him she wouldn't use it as long as he kept his distance. Then she said she threw it at him from about 10 feet away in self-defense.
She's held that claim for the first night through a plea hearing four years later. Police were inside the apartment that night and she slept at home. And Christian's phone held recordings she apparently never knew he'd made. The footage from that night caught her covered in blood, sitting on the ground in handcuffs while her dogs wandered around her. Another clip caught her asking the officers over and over whether she'd killed Christian. The chief medical examiner looked at the then the 10-foot throw story and rejected it. The fatal wound came from a forceful downward thrust, according to the autopsy findings, and a thrown knife couldn't produce that injury. Investigators also wrote that her body showed no injuries backing up her description of an attack. There's video, too, in February 22, an elevator camera recorded Clenney striking and shoving Christian and prosecutors released that footage themselves. The state attorney played it at a press conference and called Clenney the aggressor in the relationship. A separate video from a trip to Aspen shows her slapping him again and again in body cameras from less than 48 hours before his death. Recorded officers in the building lobby called out over the couples fighting. The neighbors could have testified too. The family civil attorney counted six 9-1-1 calls from other tenants in the three months the couple lived at that one address. The state attorney said the building was getting ready to evict them over the violence. The same lawyer argued the building saw it coming. Condo association and security companies usually act after one 9-1-1 call, he said, and this building had six. None of it started in Miami at the couple's previous tower in Austin. The neighbor directly below said their fight spilled into his unit, including a painting that landed on his 10th floor balcony and police showing up multiple times. The state attorney's called the whole relationship extremely tempestuous and combative. The recordings are the part of the file can't soften. Christian had been capturing some of their arguments on his phone with the lens blurred and his hand over it or his pocket. In Miami, police recovered the clips during the homicide investigation. In one, she screams at him over a woman who said hi to him on a bike ride. And she calls him the N word. Christian was black. She yells at him to shut up and let her slap him. And another, she demands to know whether he's done gaslighting her. He tells her what she just said was a threat. In a third, first reported by the Daily Beast, she tells him she wants to kill him.
