You're listening to The Hammer and Nigel Show.
Jason Hammer (0:09)
Party people, I'm Jason Hammer, Brian Alvey, Chris Hammer, both in the house filling in for Nigel today.
Let's go to the hotline and bring on somebody that was part of the greatest sports betting program the city of Indianapolis has ever seen. For two amazing years, All Indiana Bets aired on television, and the real star of that show is comedian Scott Long. My man, how are you?
Scott Long (0:38)
Great to talk to you, by the way, it does not take two people to make up for Nigel.
I don't know why you brought in two. I mean, you could have just half of Chris makes up for Nigel.
Jason Hammer (0:52)
Yeah, the roast is already starting, apparently. Like we got an early start on the roast here.
Scott Long (0:57)
Yeah, when is that?
Jason Hammer (0:58)
That is Saturday, November 21st at the Mad Hatter in Greenwood, Scott.
Scott Long (1:05)
Yeah, and that just so you know, everybody, that's more than a month away.
You warm yourself up Friday and Friday night. I'm in Greenwood at the Mad Hatter Saturday night. I'm at the downtown new location, which is what Crackers used to be off of North Delaware. So part of the reason I'm here, if you don't know radio, if you haven't been a guest on radio, I'll give you a little insight. The producer of the show will call you, and it came up potential spam, which I don't know if that says anything good or bad about what's going on over there at Radio One. But what I'll tell you is that, ironically, that's what I label Nigel's name on mine. Whenever I just listed it on, I love Nigel. I'm sorry, buddy. Just you're not there to defend yourself. Not that it would matter. No, no, not that it would matter at all.
Jason Hammer (2:06)
Yeah, like we say way worse things right to his face.
His fat, red face.
Scott Long is with us. So tell me about the shows coming up. You don't do a lot of club stuff really anymore. You've kind of like established yourself as like the the guy that comes to your corporate event and things like that. This is kind of rare for you.
Scott Long (2:29)
Yeah, I haven't done a non-fundraiser or corporate event in Indy. And I think probably four years. So, you know, it's almost like daddy gets to say some bad words in public kind of thing. Just a little background.
For a long time, I did a thing called celebrity, Indy Celebrity Stand Up, which every year I would do it. I would teach local celebs on how to do stand up. Some were kind of naturals. Hammer was a natural. He did it. He did it twice. Correct?
Jason Hammer (3:03)
Yes, sir.
Scott Long (3:05)
Two different years. Did it great. But you put effort into it like you do the show. Some people don't. The first time Pat McAfee ever did stand up was at my thing. So that was kind of cool. And Mayor Ballard did it one year, which was cool. And I got to tell you, I'm not going to get, I know it's a political station. I'm not going to get political. I'm not going to tell you who to vote for. But if I was Greg Ballard and I had an ad, my ad would be something like, hey, you might remember me. I'm former Mayor Greg Ballard and my opponents have been lying about me. And what I'm talking about is I am not any way, anyhow, related to Chris Ballard. Please stop saying that.
I am losing my...
Chris Ballard, he's so bad at his job. I would rather have as the Colts GM, Hogshead, that's how bad Chris Ballard is. Look, I'm not a perfect mayor. I mean, I had my own Anthony Richardson. It was called those electric cars. That didn't really work out well. Yeah, yeah, waste of parking spaces.
Still better than Anthony Richardson. Still better than this mysterious linebacker that I drafted as our first pick that can't play. And we have the worst linebackers. I don't know. I mean, Ron Colley has better linebackers than we do.
Jason Hammer (4:41)
That may be true.
Scott Long (4:42)
So vote for me.
Jason Hammer (4:45)
Man, Chris Ballard is making Nigel look good at his job at this point.
Scott Long (4:49)
Keep it going, baby. Let's keep burying Nigel.
Jason Hammer (4:52)
Let's keep absolutely hammering Nigel to the ground.
Scott, got a couple of minutes left here. I want to get your thoughts on this whole Shane Gillis thing. Like everybody's losing their minds over his monologue on Saturday Night Live, where he said, girls go to the gym and they dress like whores. That was kind of the takeaway from the monologue that Shane Gillis said. I don't know, man. I grew up watching Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy, so it takes quite a bit to offend me. I don't understand all the hate here. What am I missing?
