We downgraded this the other week but Mellius is tough on Microsoft too. They lower their price target to 400
Jim Cramer (1:28)
Do you know that it really is the ghost of alphabet that keeps me from saying, you know what, I'm done. I can't fight it because down 20 percent. The reason I say that is because you're not dealing with a company that has no means. It's an incredibly rich company. You're not dealing with a company that has bad management. It's among the best management in the whole S&P.
Carl Quintanilla (1:51)
You've likened it to Google when they first rolled out BARD. That was a huge whiff, a big miss versus CHAP GPT and the other AI models. But Gemini has taken leadership and Alphabet has figured out its full AI stack. Meanwhile, Microsoft, there was reports last week reorganizing copilot. Melia is saying, you don't do this into strength. This is weakness. But maybe it's something they need to do.
Jim Cramer (2:18)
Well, let's say they decided, we're going to go all AI and we're going to lay off 50,000 people. That stock goes higher, not lower. I think that that's a company that has the balance sheet to do that.
Carl Quintanilla (2:34)
Some other big stories today. Synopsis is Elliott management takes a multi-billion dollar stake pushing for changes like raising prices.
Jim Cramer (2:40)
The stock should be up more. I'll tell you why. Synopsis' gross margins are substantially lower than its competitor cadence. The company has not raised price even in an environment where they bought Ansys and they could raise price. They can now go to their customers and say, look, well, you know we've tried to keep prices down, but we've got Elliott breathing down our neck and that's just a brilliant situation. I think it's going to happen.
