Look at a Capital One and I'm saying, oh come on Fairbank, do something. Yeah. You look at something like Cardinal Health is up for today, but the health care is so bad. Right.
Yesterday I had Tom Poland from Bethlehem Dickinson just lamenting the ratio and how health care is the cheapest it's ever been. So you say, okay listen, I'll keep buying the Cardinal Health, I'll buy some more J&J.
Jeff Marks (1:44)
Yeah, gradually. Look, I think earnings keep growing at a good clip, valuations getting more attractive. You think you will do well over time with that being a key line. Why don't we step back for a minute. April jobs report, better than expected, 115,000 jobs added, first 65,000 expected. Some slight negative revisions. Nothing too scary though. Average hourly earnings up 3.6, which is up from last month, a little bit below estimates, unemployment rate on change.
Lessens the case for a rate cut. The Fed has to focus more on inflation now, with the jobs okay.
Jim Cramer (2:22)
I'm still a believer that the Whirlpool economy is what Warsh will focus on. He will not focus on the agentic economy.
Jeff Marks (2:31)
Whirlpool economy need lower rates because the housing market has been bad. You buy a new house, you get a new Whirlpool housing machine.
Jim Cramer (2:40)
Look at this part of the economy, and the retailers are rolling over. The part of the economy that is, although I do like TJS 152, that basically has no momentum whatsoever.
I think it's very easy to make a case for those. I really do. I think that it's a Dollar Tree economy.
Jeff Marks (2:56)
Yeah. You mentioned retail rolling over. There was another downgrade of Nike today. This is Wells. They go to equal weight from Outperform. The Outperform rating hasn't done you much though. Just concerns about the length of the turnaround. They prefer clothing to footwear.
We downgraded this to a 2 after the quarter.
Jim Cramer (3:18)
Tapestry had problems. Tapestry is a great company.
It didn't produce the numbers that people thought. Again, it's very hit or miss. It used to be a retail chain called hit or miss. I used to say all the time, well, it's just like the hit or miss. But the problem is this. When you see a TJS go down 10 points with nothing, do you really want to go in and walk into it and put a bid in? I don't know, when does it stop, for heaven's sake?
