You were on the squad when Reggie and Kim was going on.

**Jeremy Shockey** (0:03)
She has a Kim Kardashian curse. Right when that happened, Reggie got hurt. Everyone dates her, it's like a curse.

**Shannon Sharpe** (0:08)
She ain't no curse.

**Jeremy Shockey** (0:10)
She only makes money for herself. How about you just care about when you were at USC? Like play like you played at USC with no girl. If you can't separate the personal with the football bill.

**Shannon Sharpe** (0:19)
Oh, you gotta be able to compartmentalize.

**Jeremy Shockey** (0:21)
You're screwed. I got a vasectomy at a young age. I had one thing.

**Shannon Sharpe** (0:24)
You got a vasectomy at a young age?

**Jeremy Shockey** (0:25)
Well, I got drafted. I got a vasectomy, I had no kids. I didn't want kids.

**Shannon Sharpe** (0:28)
You didn't want any kids? You still don't want kids?

**Jeremy Shockey** (0:30)
I reversed it.

**Shannon Sharpe** (0:55)
Hello, welcome to another episode of Club Shay Shay. I am your host, Shannon Sharpe. I'm also the proprietor of Club Shay Shay. Stopping by for conversation and a drink today, he's one of the most entertaining, dynamic pass catchers, and one of the best tight ends of his era. He's a two-time Super Bowl champ. He's one of the most celebrated tight ends in college football history. He was part of arguably the greatest college football team assemble, the 2001 University of Miami Hurricanes. He won a national championship with the Cane, led the team in receptions. He was inducted to the University of Miami Hall of Fame, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Hall of Fame, and the College Athletic Hall of Fame. He's a first-team college All-American, a one-time All-Pro, a four-time Pro Bowler, a polarizing figure, a fan favorite. Here he is, Jeremy Shockey.

**Jeremy Shockey** (1:36)
Sharpe! Pleasure, man. I didn't know half that shit even existed, so.

**Shannon Sharpe** (1:41)
How you doing, man?

**Jeremy Shockey** (1:42)
I'm doing pretty good, how about yourself?

**Shannon Sharpe** (1:43)
Man, first of all, I want to thank 11 for hosting us, because this is unbelievable. But we got some drinks, so I got to toast this career. Come on in, young lady.

**Jeremy Shockey** (1:51)
I appreciate you having me, Shannon.

**Shannon Sharpe** (1:52)
Yeah, man. Thank you so much. Oh, wow.

**Jeremy Shockey** (1:56)
Wow.

**Shannon Sharpe** (1:56)
This is a side card. This is made with my Cognac, shaved by La Portier.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:00)
Okay.

**Shannon Sharpe** (2:01)
Little something here, you know.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:02)
Ah, okay.

**Shannon Sharpe** (2:02)
Yeah, you know.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:03)
I appreciate it.

**Shannon Sharpe** (2:04)
One tidy and two enough.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:05)
Thank you. Oh, wow.

**Shannon Sharpe** (2:10)
We're going to be right. Man, I appreciate you taking time out, because I haven't seen you, man. You kind of just like fell off the grid once you.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:17)
No, I don't do TV much. And like I said earlier, I appreciate, you know, coming on and I don't do this. I get asked a lot and, you know, we got mutual friends. And I'm like, yeah, I'm a huge fan. Obviously you and your show. And again, thanks for having me. But congratulations on the success after football, man. A lot of people need a, that's a, you got the Hall of Fame. The second part of the Hall of Fame is a person.

**Shannon Sharpe** (2:38)
Do you know what? I think the thing you're shocked is that everybody saw your personality on the field and they just naturally thought it would be a smooth, seamless transition. Like man, he's going to be in television. They thought you were grump before grump.
So everybody just thought like man, Shockey's going to do television. You look at his personality, but it seemed like you kind of retreated to the back.

**Jeremy Shockey** (2:57)
Yeah. I don't know. I wouldn't have been in front of TV unless the teams forced me anyway to do interviews. But no, afterwards, I like to travel and do things. I'm not much of a public person, I would say these days and that's fine. Maybe one day you have me on a show again. Okay.

**Shannon Sharpe** (3:14)
I appreciate that.
Let's where it really started for you at the University of Miami. What made you go to the Hurricanes? Because this was not the Hurricanes of the 80s and the early mid-90s. They were kind of having a down, they had still getting good players, but they weren't contending for national championships every year like they had in the past. What made you choose?

**Jeremy Shockey** (3:35)
The head coach Butch Davis was from Oklahoma, and the offensive coordinator Larry Coker was from Oklahoma.
