Welcome to the second update on China's physical AI scene for July. Let's start in Shanghai with the 2026 World AI Conference, WAIC, which kicked off on July 18th, alongside the high-level meeting on global AI governance. While plenty of AI companies took part, many showed off hardware we've seen before, like Magic Lab's Panda-shaped robot, or the compact soccer-playing bots from Booster Robotics.
Speaking of Booster Robotics, they officially launched their more powerful T2.
Equipped with the Nvidia Thor chip, they continue to hold the leading position when it comes to robot soccer matches. Moving over to practical applications, RobbyAnt, backed by Ant Group, demonstrated its LingBot cross-embodiment model. They used it to seamlessly control robots from three different brands working inside a pharmacy. Meanwhile, AI Squared Robotics showcased the AlphaBot 2 It put on a show featuring heavy-duty industrial tasks, alongside a few fun perks, like hand-crafting cocktails and serving ice-creams. Also made a splash at the Shanghai event, presenting interactive demos focused on perception, dexterous manipulation, mobility, and human-robot collaboration. But the bigger story? Agibot recently acquired the listed company, Swancore, and created a new robotics arm, PrimeBot. Building on this, they've now released a humanoid quadruped transformer called the PrimeBot T1. It's positioned as a consumer-grade home bot designed for travel photography, entertainment, and companionship across both indoor and outdoor environments, filling a unique niche in the current market.
Other major July announcements beyond the conference. We had a couple of major releases elsewhere in the country. July 20th, Unitree unveiled its UnifoLM-OminiA-0.3 model. It's a single model designed to handle multi-task home care and wellness, supporting full modal interactive understanding, end-to-end autonomy, and impressive anti-interference stability. July 16th, Galbot introduced world action model test time training, positioning it as the world's first test time post-training framework tailored for embodied AI foundation models.
Finally, because this conference ran alongside a government-backed high-level meeting, China officially announced the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, Waico. Representatives from 29 nations, including Kazakhstan, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, and Indonesia, signed the agreement. While it's clear China is eager to take a leading role in global AI governance, a glance at the attendee list shows a notable absence of other major powers, proving we're still far from any global consensus.
