Welcome to the second episode of China's Physical AI Update for October 2026, with a focus on the humanoid sector. First, Hong Kong listed UBTEC.

Recently, China released its first set of six national standards for humanoid robotics. UBTEC led the drafting and editing of these standards, which cover basic requirements, environmental perception, decision-making and planning, motion control, task manipulation, and simulation test platform specifications. To date, UBTEC has participated in drafting and releasing 73 standards, including four international standards, as well as 42 national and industry standards. Deepening its focus on embodied AI and humanoid robotics, UBTEC delivered impressive growth figures. In the first half of 2026, overall humanoid robot sales surged by 268.3 percent. Notably, sales of full-sized humanoid robots saw explosive growth, with revenue jumping 1,445 percent and unit sales up 1,946.7 percent. UBTEC also recently inked a strategic partnership with FAW. Volkswagen. The two companies will test embodied AI applications in logistics, build demonstration scenarios, and accelerate the deployment of humanoid robots in smart manufacturing.

Now turning to AgiBot. AgiBot's Lingxi X2 is currently serving as a receptionist at Peking University People's Hospital, featuring Ant Group's Afu assistant to support patient inquiries. AgiBot has also reportedly secured over 220,000 square meters of office space across three major Lu Jiazui Group developments in Shanghai, setting a new record for a single office leasing deal in Shanghai.

UniTree has launched UniUni, an intelligent multi-robot control system which can rapidly coordinate the movements and positioning of robot fleets while monitoring device status in real time and providing safety breaking and other functions. On October 16th, Leju Robotics and Zhao Feng jointly released an physical AI plus automotive parts loading solution. A fleet of 15 humanoid robots entered Zhao Feng's production line in Hangzhou, handling tasks from material picking and transportation to loading. The loading success rate has remained stable at 98 percent, with a cumulative operating time of around 1000 hours, assisting in the production of over 60,000 components.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, CAICT, in collaboration with Tsinghua University's Department of Electronic Engineering and the Embodied Intelligence Testing Laboratory, jointly released a report on October 16th.

It warned that bubble risks in the Embodied Intelligence Sector are accumulating, and that industry momentum has noticeably cooled, pointing to a threefold reality of cooling technology, cooling applications, and cooling enterprises. The report highlighted a growing contrast in the embodied AI industry. While capital markets and policy support continue to heat up, scaling up commercial deployments remains bottlenecked, creating a noticeable gap between tech demos and real-world deliveries. Most domestic players still rely heavily on reproducing and fine-tuning older open-source models like RT1, RT2, and OpenVLA. At the application level, the report notes that actual deployment lags far behind shipment volumes, as technology readiness falls short of real-world needs. Current shipments mainly flow into research, education, data collection, exhibitions, entertainment performances, and government or supply chain pilot projects. In practice, many robots sit idle outside of showcase events, with average operation under 10 days per month being a common occurrence. As a result, a significant number of domestic embodied AI startups have essentially ground to a halt, operating at a bare minimum. That's all for this episode. I make regular updates of China's physical AI sector. Thanks for watching, and see you next time.
