Well, let's pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. It is that time. If you want to join me, I'll give you the number dialing right now. Okay, it's 888-914-9149.
If you are having a difficult day, maybe you don't feel like praying. I've been there. I believe I know what it's like. Sometimes you're so overwhelmed, you're like, there's something powerful about prayer, especially when you're in that moment of dryness or fatigue or even anger at God. You'll feel that veil lift. I really do believe that. So just say, Lord, I'm going to sacrifice my time now. I'm going to stop. I'm going to give it to you. And I'm praying for this. And bring it to the foot of the cross. And we'll pray for you and with you as well. I want to pray for a woman I met today. I went to Mass at a shrine this afternoon. And I was in the back, the very back of the church. And I received my communion and I was praying. And after my prayers, I kind of opened my eyes and this woman came over and said, Drew? And I said, yeah, hi. And she introduced herself. And Diana, I just want to say thank you for stopping me.
She came over, she asked about my book. You know, hey, there's more copies going to be printed. Yeah, they'll be out. And if you want them for Christmas, we'll probably have them by then. But then she went on to say something very personal. She said, would you please pray for me? She said, I'm having some difficulty right now.
Her son, she lost her son in a drowning accident. And this happened a couple of years ago. But she's just recently, she's been overwhelmed by these waves of anxiety. They just come to her when she's driving her car. They come to her at different times. And she's really struggling with it. So I gave her just a little bit of advice and told her I would pray. And I told her, I'd bring this intention to you. So maybe you know somebody who is struggling with anxiety today. Maybe you're dealing with a loss of peace. Maybe there's something bad just happened in your world. Bad news, loss of job, an infidelity, a broken relationship, a foreclosure, a repossession. Maybe there's something going on in your life.
I want you to know, just as I want her to know, that the blessed mother who stood at the foot of the cross, she knows anguish, right? She knows what it's like to lose a son. So I want to say turn to Our Lady in a particular way whose sorrowful heart knows our human pain. And ask her to wrap that mantle around you and lead you into loving arms of Jesus. And when you feel overwhelmed, I know so many of us can at times just say this beautiful prayer. And I love it. It's so simple. It's five simple words. Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you. That's all you have to do. Lord, please give me your peace.
Because death does not have the final word. If you lost somebody and you're really struggling today, Christ has the final word. Your love, especially for that loved one who's gone before, it never dies. It continues. And God often entrusts us and puts into our lives certain individuals, and sometimes he takes them home a little earlier than we would like. And there is nothing that can take away the ache of absence. I think our faith, though, it gives us this beautiful hope of the resurrection and the possibility of what will be a glorious reunion and eternity, and that should give us all hope. So, my advice is just take life one day at a time. If you're going through a difficult time right now, live in the present moment, okay? Live in the present moment. Don't worry about tomorrow. It'll take care of itself. Don't live in the past, all right? You don't have to be strong every minute. Lead on those who love you, and let's come together now as one, and we'll take it to our Lord on the cross. I'm in the studio today with my colleague, Helen. Helen, it's good to have you with me here today. Thank you so much for praying with me.
Helen (4:03)
Yeah, my honor. And everything that you just said is very much speaking to me personally.
This is the feast day of St. Teresa of Avila. And in my family, I have three generations of Teresas, T-E-R-E-S-A.
